Now you can’t be serious. Tony Iommi is lame.Sloppy as hell and has a 3 riff catalog.

Stanley Jordan is the MAN! I have always told my daughters that brilliance is when someone makes it "look easy" - that's Stanley Jordan. He plays the guitar like the rest of us tie our shoes. I love the two hand technique he uses - beautiful.

I remember seeing his first stuff come out -- on Blue Note records, IIRC -- in 1985 or 1986.
I read once that he was backstage on Johnny Carson, or similar, and one of the greats (Larry Carlton?) saw him playing, and stomped off, saying, "I can't play that well..."
Rumor, to match the Keaggy/Hendrix rumors. Which I tracked down as far as (IIRC) Feb. 1976 Saturday Evening Post.
Cheers!

and that is the way it is supposed to be :) I gotta find out more about her. She is great. Thanks again.

Great song. I used to play "Day of the Eagle" and "Too Rolling Stoned". Good stuff. "I think I'll just sit this one out".

Truth is it’s absurd to pick the best guitarist .They are all trying to do different things , different styles, different approaches. Most guitarist don’t think in terms of who is better or best anyway.

No excuse. Very average player, stock rock licks and nothing original about anything he’s done.

You must only be familiar with the stuff played on pop radio, like Iron Man and Paranoid. Much of his music is quite elaborate and sophisticated. I’ve even heard classical guitar duets incorporated into various Black Sabbath songs that I found very enjoyable.

Users can wow you with what they do; masters will change what you believe can be done. Jordan is a master; watch his
Youtube video of "Over the Rainbow" for things that a guitar player should not be able to do (especially from ~2 minutes to 3 minutes). You should not be able to play 3 parts against each other on a single neck, and do it so relaxed it sounds natural.
IMHO, Jordan is the greatest; he has the speed of Yngwie, the passion of Hendrix or Beck, the creativeness of Clapton and King. Many can play a guitar, few can make it a true extension not just of their fingers but their soul and mind. It does what he wants!

the thing is, he wrote that song solo without the band or anyone else. My favorite Mr. Big song too, one of my favorite songs period. It sounds so pleasing to me, the intro and chorus is great. What a great song by a great guitarist. “Get Outta My Yard” is probably my favorite solo album from him.

For a guitar player who has 2 missing fingertips and down-tunes to C#, he does pretty well.
Did you know he [very] briefly payed in Jethro Tull?
Weird, huh?

Yeah, you started it, calamity.
Here are a few of my favorite Keaggy clips.
Ebow. (He was doing this stuff 30 years ago as I saw him in concert doing this tune then...)
Michael-Hedges style tapping from a 1987 album.
Volume swells
Channeling Holdsworth again from a 1987 album.
Electric goodness (reminds me of Larry Carlton, only different: love the riffs from 1:25 to 1:44) from an album recorded in 1978.
How to do it on acoustic from a 1998 album.
Not the fastest, not the best finger picker, not the most soulful -- but he can keep up with the best across ALL of them.
Cheers!
