Here’s my favorite, Dave Murray.

I can’t find anything good of just Criss Oliva playing guitar.
Tony Rice is fantastic! Thanks for the links Stultis
Well, I dare you to listen to such albums like Sabatoge and the debut album, Black Sabbath, and make that claim. There's so many key and tempo changes, classical intertwined with blues, ect... that you'd be amazed.
No, I didn’t recognize the song, but that doesn’t change the fact that the violinist bowing didn’t match the soundtrack. Maybe the timing was way off between the video & sound. But it looked like a Milli Vanilli concert to me.
I heard those albums ten thousand times. Again , VERY average playing at best. Most guitarist will agree that TI wasn’t all that good of a player. Actually I once saw Van Halen open for Sabbath ,that’s when you REALLY heard the difference between brilliant and average.TI must have shit himself listening to Eddie from the wings.
Like who? I've never heard anyone make such claims. All I've heard has been praise for Iommi.
Actually I once saw Van Halen...
Van Halen is pop-rock. Toni Iommi is heavy metal. You're comparing apples to oranges.
He’s one of my favorites too. Killers, Powerslave, Piece of Mind, Seventh Son...some top-notch albums there.
But darn, I really wish you had pinged me to those before Christmas, ya know. He would have made such a great gift for my Mom.
Years ago, I turned her (& Dad, too) on to Noveau/Nuevo Flamenco, which has worked out quite handily. Everytime she and I have to go for even a semi-longish trip we just load up the changer with plenty of that stuff on board, because we both like it & it's excellent to drive to. So a CD from that genre always made a nice fall-back gift for her with no thought required.
But eek, enough already, we sooo desperately need to branch out to something else. I do believe that cool gypsy fusion stuff from Jimmy R you posted is just what the good Dr. Santa ordered for family road trips.
Now I just gotta figure out how to load that onto both of our cars' music hard drives. Aargggghunghhhhh. It sucks being a technomoron.
Too bad there's no way to play YouTube straight from the dashboard's touchscreen yet.
(Although prolly that same obscure Connecticut law which precludes auto mfrs.from letting movies play in the GPS console while in forward gear would also disable YouTube except when we're parked - even those of us in other states. Gee, thanks a LOT, Connecticut.)
Speaking of diasabled tech features, see your freepmail.
I can vouche for the following being a fine DVD of "Jazz manouche" style gypsy music:
It doesn't have Jimmy on it, but does have his relative Stochelo Rosenberg. I'm sure there are Jimmy Rosenberg CDs and DVDs available, but I don't own any so can't make specific recommendations.
And, with apologies for wandering somewhat from the guitar topic, here's something else you might like. The most bestest Celtic music group ever, ever. This is a CD and DVD combo (of a live and intimate reunion concert) for a great price.
Here's a sample:
Ah, here’s another from the Solas DVD. More guitar on this one, with Seamus Egan joining in to play lead, but still acoustic:

And, btw, if you like Celtic, the lovely Cara Dillon (and her husband) put out a great ablum early this year:

Shredding isn’t playing.
#1) Hendrix
#2) Bill Nelson
Iommi is OK but as usual, no one realizes Ritchie Blackmore gets stiffed and he is one of the pioneers of hard rock-Malmsteen basically admitted in the ‘80s that he copied him, scalloped fretboard and all. He never gets credit for basically inventing classicaly based rock.
Lazy indeed! He’s also a hell of a Highway Star.
