Here’s some awesome picking by a trio of young guitar masters, palying at the Station Inn: Josh Williams, Andy Falco and Chris Eldridge

Hard to beat Tony Rice. About the only way is to add fabulous babes on bass (lucky bass) and mando (lucky mandolin):

Babes both solo (and Peter Rowan sings) on this one:

Finally, how about some Doc and Chet? (Sound level’s a little low on this one):

I wish I hadn't put down the guitar so many years ago. I was pretty good (so people told me), but too many years of playing in bands with the wrong musicians and it started to feel like work. I just got a Digitech GNX4 and am getting back into this, and the sort of freestyle vamping and really playing makes me wanna jump all over it again. It is frustrating, but taking a break to watch masters like Keaggy, Malmsteen, Eric Johnson, Richie Kotzen, and so many others like them on youtube is fantastic inspiration. Thanks for those posts!

Damn. She’s a babe.
“Some ol’ flat picker like Doc Watson.”
Here’s a little Doc doing “Milk Cow Blues” with a little help from his Son (or possibly Grandson).

Hard to believe that that movie’s five years old. Still the best.

Jeff Beck & Tal Wilkenfeld - Cause We Ended As Lovers
Who would have thought the best producer Cash would have, possibly in his entire career, would be the co-founder of Def Jam records, coming from work with bands like Slayer and Metallica! Rick Rubin is a freak'n genius, and he opened a floodgate of genius in Cash.
And whoever it was that did those credits, and realized Cash would go great with zombies, was a genius also.
Incredible! Thanks for posting that.
I really like Al Petrelli of the Trans Siberian Orchestra also
My own view too. The fact is there are numerous guitarists who are all flash and no substance. They're technically competent, but they play lousy music. Musical competence is obviously important but secondary to the music. If the music is not good, then it doesn't matter how good the musician who is playing the crummy music. The result is well-played dreck.
What's the deal with that video? The girl doesn't appear to be playing the same song as the soundtrack. Her bow strokes don't begin to match the notes in the song.
Much of his music is quite elaborate and sophisticated.
No it’s not.
Well if the measure of a players ability is how many records they sold then this is a different thing all togehter. Then Milli Vanilli’s guitar player is way up there with the greats,
Yep, truly excellent.
You hit it on the head my friend. Berkley put out a generation of players that were technically flawless and all sounded the same and told no story with their playing.
Jeff Beck paints pictures as did Hendrix.
Jeff and Tal together are an incredible combo..:o)
Okay? Guess you don’t know that song.
