MERRY CHRISTMAS! To all the men and women who are sitting down in their capsules on Alert, I wish you a MERRY CHRISTMAS!
This Christmas I give thanks to our Lord for all of you. For the ones who pulled Alerts before me, for the ones who pulled Alerts with me, and for all of you who have taken up the challenge after my time was done, I thank you all.
Thank you for keeping our Country, me, and my family safe and free.
Thank you for doing a thankless job that most Americans know nothing about, while putting up with bad leadership, good leadership, long hours, Holiday Alerts, mediocre food, long drives, bad weather, Skybirds, Polo Hats, Trainer Rides, Check Rides, and other assorted and sundry things that make your duty tough.
Even during the height of the Cold War many Missileers had doubts about the effectiveness of what they did and now it may be even tougher to understand your effectiveness. Leave no doubt in your minds that you and your missiles have a real purpose that keeps us free today.
With that written, May your Christmas time be one of joy and love.
Thank you for all you are doing as you pull Alert!
Thank you.
As one who went to school at Central Missouri State University at Warrensburg during the early 70’s may I say Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year back to you:-)
For those of you are wondering, Whiteman AFB was 10 miles east of Warrensburg, or right in the middle of a boatload of Minutman missles.

Merry Christmas to you OldMissileer! Let’s hope for better days for the Faded Giant.
...and make sure all you guys and gals change your socks daily, you don’t want to come down with a case of missle toe......
Two-thirds of a Pun...PU! :-)
‘Back in the day’ we didn't have Internet - here's hoping they're able to Freep with the rest of us.
“Skybird, this is Wing Command Post with a test of the Primary Alerting System,... Acknowledge Now. ... Out.”
I was a Deucer, Sylvania capsule. Now all gone except for the museum up in North Dakota.
