As news of Brittany Murphys death reached media outlets yesterday, many of Brittanys coworkers, friends and fans took to Twitter to mourn the young star and remember her warmly. Alicia Silverstone, Brittanys costar in Clueless, spoke to People Magazine about Brittany, saying I always felt connected to her as we shared a very special experience in our lives together. I feel love in my heart for her and hope she is at peace. This is truly sad. Alicia also said that though they didnt stay in close touch over the years she was still so saddened to hear this news. I loved working with Brittany. She was so talented, so warm, and so sweet. Others chimed in on Twitter:

I feel kind of meh about people expressing their grief on Twitter, but I suppose its just as valid and heartfelt as drafting a press release, only less complicated. Still, its clear that Brittany was loved and respected by many in the Hollywood community, and its nice to such respectful tributes to her life and work.
Meanwhile, others havent been so kind or respectful. Perez Hiltons initial report on Brittanys death read People just dont typically die at 32 of natural causes!!!!!!! Absolutely devastating. Especially because this comes as no surprise! We, and those who knew Brittany personally, saw this coming. That does not make this any less horrible. While Perez might be right (and I admit that my first thought was drugs), it would have been more respectful to simple just say there are rumors about this or that rather than some f-cked up I told you so.
Many news agencies are going through their archival footage of Brittany, and its pretty much established that her last public appearance was for the opening of Tt Collections Pop-Up shop in Los Angeles. Many outlets described her appearance at the time as emaciated or bony and looking at the photos, you can see she doesnt look very healthy. She seems to have given one of her last red carpet interviews to Access Hollywood, and media outlets are quoting from it at length (heres another red carpet interview from the event). Brittany spoke about wanting to have a baby in the new year, saying As far as having a New Years resolution, Id love to have a child next year. But thats kind of a large one! She also described herself as very blessed to have a really great loving husband.
I spend more time with my family than anyone else in the world. This poor girl. I have no idea what was really going on with her, but she had real plans for her future, and this story just got me choked up.
Next tweet: "Cuz I'm waaay too busy with my appearances and like, stuff. Get an intern to send 'em...k?"
Twitter is becoming an ever increasing presence in our lives.
RIP Brittany
Perez Hilton still proves, even after someone dies, he’s still a jackass.
I do not like Perez Hilton by any means, but I have to agree with what he said (he could clean up his vocabulary a bit though). I am not saying it was, but I have to wonder myself if drugs or an eating disorder caused her death. She just seems to young to have died of “natural causes”. Either way, I enjoyed her doing the voice of Luanne on “King of the Hill” and the few movies I saw her in.
One of the obituaries I look forward to reading is Perez Hilton’s. Can’t be printed soon enough if you ask me.
yep. I feel dumber for knowing what Khloe Kardashian twittered about anything.
Who was Brittany Murphy?
You don’t die of “natural causes” at 32.
I’ve heard bulimia, painkiller addiction, and even cocaine as possible causes.
I detest celebrities.
“She just seems to young to have died of natural causes.”.
Yeah. Too bad really, but neither youth or fame is going to save you from the Reaper. Sometimes the combination predisposes you to an early departure. Certainly Jackson’s fame offed him earlier than necessary. Of course, “the rules” didn’t apply to him. Many of the famous find, too late, that the rules of early mortality DO apply. Of course, her demise may have had nothing to do with drugs, or any other type of self-destructive behavior. A cranial aneurism will kill you quicker than drug abuse. Throw a big clot to the brain, and three minutes later you’re gone. Sometimes, it’s just a matter of your time being up.....sometimes.
I had a friend die of heart failure in his late 20s.
He had a undetected heart problem and he just fell over dead while at his home.
“He had a undetected heart problem and he just fell over dead while at his home.”
Indeed, a similar condition could have taken my daughter. In her case, it was detected when she was seven. It was corrected when she was 10. Wolf-Parkinson-White is a not uncommon cardiac condition that gets worse as you get older. It is one of those diseases that disrupts the electrical signals in the heart, to the point that her pulse rate was once over 250 bpm. Not enough to kill you when you’re 8, but enough to get you buried at 16 if it’s not diagnosed.
Easy to fix permanently via a catheterization procedure. You’re out of the hospital within four hours, and usually it is a permanent correction. But first it has to be detected. This is one of those “undiagnosed conditions” that has seemingly fit high school football players keeling over dead.
So yes, it’s quite common for young people to die, through no fault of their own. Of course, anorexia/starvation will take you as well. Odd that a person’s “self-image” can be skewed to Auschwitz norms, but it is a “mental illness” after all. In any case, it is interesting to learn what can kill you when you’re young. The pathology report will be interesting. If nothing else, it will make those of us that remain a bit more careful.
Nonesense: life is stranger than you think. I knew a girl who was fit, not a drinker, or drug abuser, neither bulimic or overweight, with absolutely no prior history of heart trouble or any other serious medical condition, an ordinary, well balanced person, who was seeming in perfect health, and she died of a sudden heart attack at nineteen. Microcardital infarction was the cause; one day her heart just ripped open.
