Word to the wise: do NOT stick your hand down the shute of a snowblower to clear an ice jam if the auger is still spinning. I let go of the hand control and thought the auger has stopped. Three broken fingers and two to-the-bone lacerations on my middle finger on my right hand have taught me this lesson today. The ER nurses and docs were very impressed. No work, no driving, great pain meds, lots of antibiotics, and seeing a hand surgeon tomorrow. Dumb, dumb, dumb...
My daughter says her husband can do anything that needs doing around the house....he just ask’s her for the phone book...
Its ok to be cheap, but my mother-in-law looked out her living room window and saw my father-in-law dead in the driveway with a shovel in his hand....There are better things in life than a snowshovel...he was a sweet man but stubborn old polock.

I don’t know if I’m brave, just honest. I did it, I admit it. It was dumb, stupid, totally ignorant, and just plain foolish. Starting a thread over it was just my way of admitting to myself that I screwed up. Badly. Glad my honesty was somehow catharic for you.

From what I’m told, I will have nothing but time to do many things. Typing with my left hand will be one of the new tricks I will learn.
Well, I guess you know we’re all sympathizing with you. Great pain meds, huh? Then you shouldn’t give a hoot what goes on in the Senate at 1 tomorrow morning! We should all be so drugged up!

If I was into posing or portraying myself as flawless, you might have a point. I’m not here to impress anyone, and if you think any less of me for admitting my faults and mistakes, I’d prefer not to know you anyway.

My left hand, actually.
I used to use the loader to put large round bales in the feeder out in the pasture/feedlot. I had to get off the tractor to cut and remove the twine. I left the tractor running. Eventually the sheep got so used to the routine they would surround the tractor in anticipation of fresh feed. One of my ewes got her wool snatched on the PTO splines. It pulled her in tight and spun her like a rag doll @540RPM. It took a half hour to cut her out. She survived.

I’m glad my snow-blower is an 11-year-old boy using either a scoop shovel or the skidsteer.
