There was a recent thread on here from a lady who was checking out at WalMart and was charged a $40.00 cash back which she had not requested and the money was not offered to her by the checker. I checked Snopes and it reported the claims were false. I wanted to post a reply, but could not.
The same thing happened to me about a year ago at a WalMart in Tyler, Tx. After the checker handed me my receipt, I looked at her and asked what the $40.00 charge at the bottom of the receipt was for. She had started checking the next customer in line. She did not look at me or at the receipt. She simply said "you will have to take it to customer service". I asked the girl in customer service what the $40.00 charge was since I had not bought anything for that amount. She looked at the receipt and looked over at the register where the checker was continuing to check out the lady behind me. The customer service lady told me should would have to call the manager. After about two minutes, the manager showed up and I asked her the same question about the charge on the receipt. She also looked over at the checker for a long time. She then went to the register, withdrew $40.00 and handed it to me and apologized for the mistake. I always wondered how a charge could be made against my account without my approval and finally caught on when I read the cash back thread.
Pay attention to your receipts when you check out at WalMart.

You should check your receipts no matter which store you shop at. Especially grocery stores where “specials” are not always recognized at the check-out.

twice i have accidently hit the $20 cash back button at Wal-Mart because it is so close the the yes/approve button... but both times the cashier gave me the money... i always have some clue as to how much the bill is going to be, so if it were $40 off, i would know something was up... btw—my bill is usually less than i anticipate—which is nice...

I was shopping at Wal-Mart, went through checkout, walked out to the parking lot, and discovered one of my kidneys was missing.
I'm never shopping at that Wal-Mart again.

“What do you think about pitbulls?”
 Depends if they are Catholic-
Or they want to secede from the rest of all dogs-
Or they believe the leash law is statist jack booted rule-
Or whether they believe God created dogs or rather they evolved from really tough gerbils like all right minded dog lovers-
Or they think Romney loves dogs or hates dogs and whether Palin is the one to shoot them from circling helicopters.
Pit bulls is a mighty complex question, partner.

What horrible customer service. They are supposed to put you in a tub of ice after kidney removal.

I don't know about Wal-Mart cashiers feeding cash with-drawls to accomplices next in line, but here in Philadelphia organized gangs infiltrated Nordstroms for years getting gang members hired as clerks then refunding cash to other gang member shoplifters. This went on for years. The ‘Police Blotter’ routinely contained Nordstroms arrest reports. Organized Philadelphia black shoplifting gangs have been working the King of Prussia Mall for years.

This story is crazy...How did they know you just didn’t pocket the $40 and claim it again?
Something fishy here since they need an audit trail for all transactions.
Check your receipts at all stores, since so many of the machines take debit cards and ask to give cash too.
I think this is an anti-WalMart story...??
