Friday nights might not be too hot when it comes to network television, but it might be because viewers are heading to cable instead.
Syfy's fall one-two Friday punch of "Stargate: Universe" and "Sanctuary" earned season renewals late Sunday, confirming what many observers had predicted would happen all along thanks to strong ratings from both shows. In fact, both SGU and "Sanctuary" even beat out network programming more than once, including the Joss Whedon series "Dollhouse" on Fox, which has since been cancelled.

What about Warehouse 13? At least there was an original thought and not some umpteenth spinoff.
Has anybody thought that the real reason they changed the name from “SciFi” to “SyFy” is so they wouldn’t have to program Science Fiction programming?
Ghosts, Wrestling, Crappy movies... It ain’t your father’s SciFi anymore.
I like the ghost hunters myself,,it fits into the horror part of syfy, but God I hate that wrestling..and that scare tactics.
An episode of scare tactics with me in it would last about five minutes. As soon as some fake alien, zombie or serial killer popped out I’d pull my Walther P-99 and suddenly the show would “be on hiatus.”
When is the other BSG movie THE PLAN supposed to be on?
Colonel Young is always grovelling around and begging his wife(ex-wife?) to love him while having or having had an affair with the medic; the Lt. quit his path to the priesthood because his girlfriend had an abortion and now has sex with every chick in sight; Sgt. Greer is a complete headcase; the Senator's daughter is a whining blubbering moron who gets mad at her best friend because she's sleeping with the blubbering moron's ex-boyfriend while the blubbering moron is sleeping with the Lt.; Eli is a fat loser nerd who spends his time mentally hiding under the bed; and Rush is so obvious, he should have "villain" printed on his forehead.
I watched until the episode where they thought they were going to crash into the sun and die, and when they didn't, I gave up on the whole thing. This show stinks.
Good comparasion. Torchwood even with the gay stuff is so much better written than SGU and moves along with a solid story line. Capt. Jack is ruthless in his defense of Earth.
I love Dr. Who. Mrs. Mad can’t stand it becasue it is “cheesy”. My resposne is that the story is the show not the special effects. SGU and Sanctuary both suffer from lousy story lines. I enjoy Amanda Tapping but her crappy British accent gets in the way of me enjoying Sanctuary. Guess I will rerun Farscape from Netflix this Winter.
And that too!
I mean, where else could I go among the 400 or so cable channels to find a James Bond flick? Where?...I ask!

Any word on whether ‘Warehouse 13’ will be back?
I am glad to see Dollhouse canned by Fox after they made the braindead move of keeping it instead of “Sarah Connor Chronicles”
Sanctuary went downhill at the end of the first Season. SG:U is okay and my wife really likes it. But what I miss is Eureka!.
I haven't heard, but they are using the actors in Syfy commercials.
All good points. Seems like there is little good Science Fiction on TV these days. Even the new BSG had to much how do you feel moments.
They did say the SGU was going to be “different” and “darker”. What they didn’t say was that the science fiction would take a backseat to soap opera emotional garbage. I would say that this trash is aimed at youth and not a reasonable, mature audience.
