Friday nights might not be too hot when it comes to network television, but it might be because viewers are heading to cable instead.
Syfy's fall one-two Friday punch of "Stargate: Universe" and "Sanctuary" earned season renewals late Sunday, confirming what many observers had predicted would happen all along thanks to strong ratings from both shows. In fact, both SGU and "Sanctuary" even beat out network programming more than once, including the Joss Whedon series "Dollhouse" on Fox, which has since been cancelled.

SGU is a soap opera. Where’s the science fiction?
So is Stargate Universe. They turned it into a homopromo.
It would be interesting to see if SyFy has enough left to pick up a remodeled Dollhouse.
Its becoming BSG Mini. I hope the aliens Dr. Rush befriends (if he does) aren’t robotic at all. Lost in space trying to find Earth.... you know
You are right SGU is a soap. I hope we see aliens in the future. I want more science fiction. Perhaps the with the Doctor being stranded on the desert planet with the unknown alien spacecraft a new storyline will introduce something new.
I am so disappointed. They're on a ship built by the Ancients. The story is only limited by the writers imaginations. Instead we get to watch As the Stomach Turns. *sigh*

Fridys on 'that' sci-fi channel bite. The whole channel bites.
It's turned into a dumping ground for NBC shows that can't get ratings on their mainstream network.
Sci-Fi? What the hell is so 'sci-fi' about ghost hunters? That is pure fiction. No science to it.
"Scare Tactics"? WTF?
"Monster Quest"? Gimme a break.
"Breast...I mean 'Ghost' Whisperer"? Come on.
"Caprica" may be the last, best hope for this channel.

Everyone on the ship is jumping into bed hetero style.
Basically, it aint "Torchwood".
SGU is the best of the series.
A few lipstick lesbo scenes does not make a homopromo show.
It is more a shoutout to teenage boys.
The more it is like BSG the better.
The less Egyptian Aliens in 16th Century European clothes speaking perfect 21st century American English the better.
I find both very tedious and a continuation of the “droll” and dispiriting that has influenced sci fi since the miserable Battlescar Gallatica series. If I wanted to watch soap operas I’d quit my job and and watch “My Life is F’d” on one of the networks in the PM.
I bailed on SGU after episode 5. It’s bad.
That new girl on Sanctuary (well, maybe not so new anymore) is horrible and she is torpedoing the series.
SGU sucks, SGA is good.
