I have always found it funny the correlation of people I know who believe in Tarot and Astrology who are also Liberals and people who believe in Bigfoot and UFOs who are also Libertarians.

Here's a better list of silly beliefs which have been proven to be absolutely false, but some people still refuse to reject them:

1) Man-made global warming

2) Keynesian economics

3) Statism

If I had my way, anyone subscribing to any of these crazy beliefs would be stripped of citizenship, declared mentally incompetent, and banished to Cuba, or LA.


Frowning takes 68 muscles.
Smiling takes 6.

Michael Shermer wrote an excellent book entitled Why People Believe Weird Things. Also note that Shermer wrote The Mind of the Market, a defense of free enterprise by a religious skeptic.
