Something big just blew up in baytown texas
I thought we had a chemist here. Maybe so, but the wording came from this page.
My hubby works in the printing industry around a great deal of tolulene. I worry about explosions every day. He is also on their fire brigade and has already been badly burned in a flash fire.
Prayers for all those arount this mess.
Yes, but I should have made that clear. I was assuming it was a similar event at the same location.
Apologies for any confusion.
Here is the original messagethread, posted to FR long before the MSM reported it.
FReepers rule!
Right, I found saw it afterwards but it is linked only a few posts down from the top of the other thread.
Fire under control...Minor injuries...
Mutual aid worked in the area as it should have...
I did hear a big boom a little while ago...I am at the I-45/Beltway 8 intersection...
Looks like they’ll relax the shelter in place in a little while...
Fairmont Parkway, Hwy 146 have sections cordoned off, no in or out for the most part...
I believe we’ll be fine...
That was a LONG almost half hour before the MSM finally acknowledged the incident. Thank goodness NO fatalities.
Good to hear, I pass it along because with this board, there can be people from anywhere in the area and with friends and family in any industry.
“Something big just blew up in baytown texas”
Although I Know you mean well, headlines like this with no information are sooooo uncool....as my husband works @Exxon in Baytown and now I’m freaking out a little....
Funny you should say that!
I live about 10 miles from the blast and I heard the blast.
Blly Gibbons of Zxtop lives close to me.
If he was home I'm pretty sure he heard it too.
Fox infobabe (Harrison what’s-her-name) just said the plant makes acrylic acid paint...
I have the local media on in the other room...
I already expected to hear all the whining and crying for the children, and the evils of indutrial capitalism and blah blah blah...
I was not wrong...They are stretching this story out like the “Stretch Armstrong” toy...
I think I ‘ll call the Channel 2 folks in and try to spoof their “Shy is Falling” rhetoric...
They are so criminal in their pontificating it really makes you wonder if we can even believe anything they say in events like this...
Must be a slow news day...
Sorry if my sarcasm appears to have gotten the best of me...
Should he have stayed mum?
well you can’t expect the local media to put up any challenge to Hopenhagenfraud.
“Should he have stayed mum?”
no, no, no....I didn’t mean it that way....I just hadn’t gotten to the updated information on down the thread yet... the headline just freaked me out... nothing to be done about it...I just said it was uncool.... I wasn’t trying to gripe....just panicky....
You do as good a job reporting on explosions as you do on hurricanes.
Thanks. :)
The FReeper posted this topic as soon as he/she felt the blast. There was no info at the time. Jeez.
Yeah. I understand. I’m a Marine Corps Brat. When the only report you get is “an airplane went down” every aviator’s family goes through it. You’re afraid to open the front door for fear that it will be The News.
And per policy they won’t release any identifying information until the next of kin have been notified. All the wives and kids don’t even know if the plane was from their loved one’s squadron.
