Electricity went out several times yesterday now the computer has lost many colors. Lost Red and several others. NEED HELP, Thanks
That's good news but is your monitor an old CRT type. If so, it sounds like it's on it's last legs. Maybe Santa will come through (if you've been a good boy this year).
It's always in the last place you look. ;-)
It's the video card. You'll need to buy a new one.
No, it’s about a year old flat screen.
If your computer “lost red,” it simply means that it is a full-fledged anti-communist.
Celebrate!
Wow, good tip, thanks, bookmark in case needed for future.
No problem..I’ve been building computers for the family for a few years now. Rebuilt an ipod this summer and now I’m working on TVs. I save a bunch of money, plus I get really cool looks from the guys when they find out I do electronics. Reminds me of biology class in HS when I actually pithed my own frog. LOL
It's amazing how many ills this advice often cures. I'm reminded of this clip from "The IT Crowd".
Before buying a new monitor, try it out with a different monitor - borrow one from a friend - the test will only take a few minutes. If the problem still exists with another monitor, it is the video card or video on the motherboard that is at fault.
You should still follow the advice of getting an adequate UPS. (battery back up and surge protector).
This $90 investment (plus tax) will save you hundreds later.

Why this one and not the $45 one? THIS one also shields you from surges coming in your internet connection, be it phone or Ethernet.
If you have an old monitor you can likely save money by getting a flat screen monitor. They use far less electric.
I was gonna make a smart-assed comment about refilling your monitor’s ink cartridges, but...
Glad you got it working!

Which other colors are bad? Do magenta items look blue and yellow items look green? In that case it just isn't displaying any red.
Have you tried your monitor's set up menus? Are they colored properly or not. If they are, it is a computer or cable problem. If they aren't, then it is a monitor problem.
If it is a monitor problem, check the monitor's color temperature/color balance setting. Strange things happen with power spikes and it might have saved a bad value in its memory for the colors it uses and turned red off.
As others have already mentioned, if it is a problem on the computer side, reboot it and reseat both ends of the video cable before yanking out any hardware or reinstalling drivers.
Good idea.
