LOS ANGELES (AP) - The final episode of "Monk" has some heavy lifting to do: Resolve Monk's poisoning and whether he survives, uncover his wife's killer or, just maybe, reveal whether Trudy really is alive after all.
Tony Shalhoub, who inhabited the title character so perfectly for eight seasons that he collected three Emmy Awards, refuses to drop any spoilers and offers only a broad outline of Adrian Monk's fate Friday (9 p.m. EST, USA Network).
The problem is that we don't know what to have for dinner: Chicken pot pie, perfectly square grilled cheese sandwiches with no crust, pizza cut into exactly 10 slices...?

Yes, I remember Crime Story. The guy who platyed Stottlemyer was very good. The whole cast was good.
The late Joseph Wiseman, who was one of my favorite actors
had a recurring role on the show.
As long as you have exactly the same number of forks, knifes, napkins and water glasses to match each slice of pizza you should be o.k....also make sure all chair backs are 6 inches from table.
I thought the episode where Bitty Schramm (Sharona) returned was laugh-out-loud funny. She and Natalie fought like wife and ex-wife.
I haven't had a chance to follow the show this season, but I have the last two episodes recorded and the finale will be recorded tonight. I'm looking forward to watching them.
I never considered the possibility of a "happy ending" with Trudy returning, but that would be awesome -- even though it is reminiscent of the temporary departure of Patrick Duffy from "Dallas" being written away as a "nightmare".
Oh, crap! You’re the guy on the park bench muttering at pigeons! I didn’t know you were on the Internet.
Just kidding:-)
He’s an actor, not a brain surgeon. I like Monk the show. It was harmless, fun, funny, and no swearing or bad morals. The character he played was a decent man, regardless of what he thinks politically in real life.
Ohhh....
BIG TIME LIBERAL.....How sad! Howard Dean and Al Franken donations....
Monk has been one bright spot in a wasteland of irrelevance and filth.
I am so sorry to see it end..
Thanks for the run guys!
I think they should have just called a break for shooting Monk for a few years then do some tv movies once in a while like they did for Columbo all those years.
Yes, he played the perv who was kidnapping all the girls and killing them that Det. Starling was pursuing.
They’ve been running a Monk Marathon all day devoted to episodes where there are clues about Trudy. If they kill Mnnk off tonight, I’ll be crushed and I’ll never forgive them. I really enjoyed this series and consider it one of the finest series ever to be on TV.
To add insult to injury, the finale tonight will be followed by the finale to White Collar, the only other series that holds a candle to Monk. I don’t know what I’ll do with my Fri. nights this winter. How can they do this to me?
BTW — Shaloub has a movie coming out. It’s already been prescreened in Green Bay. Something about fish, and they say it’s good.
And yes, THe Big Night was delightful.
It all depends on how the show goes tonight, if he solves his wifes murder and his own attempted murder, they can fade to black with the whole future still open for exploration.
If they kill him off or bring Trudy back, yes, they are killing a potential cow that they could come back and milk any time they want.
He also played Buffalo Bill in Silence of the Lambs.
I’ve noticed that myself. The odd thing is most of them are owned my NBC/Universal.
I think bringing Trudy back to life would be a horrible way to end the show. Trudy’s murder shaped the whole character of Monk, and made him a tragic and sympathetic character, instead of just an annoying one.
If they really wanted to jump the shark in the final episode, I say they should have had Monk marry Natalie. That would make more sense as there was some foreshadowing of that. The last nurse Monk interviewed before meeting Natalie told him “You don’t need a nurse, you need a wife!”. Also, from time to time, Natalie would say something like “Mitch is the only other man who would have done that.”
