Jim DeMint, Michelle Bachmann, Sarah
MIKE HUCKABEE FOR PRESIDENT!!!!
(ducking for cover...)
If you spend your time lurking that says more about you than us.
Tom McClintock, Michelle Bachman, Jim DeMint, Sarah Palin all sorts are out there who are conservatives
Mike Pence, Sarah Palin—there’s a couple for ya.
There is never going to be the perfect candidate
Duncan Hunter, Tom Tancredo.
Dennis Kucinich. He isn’t a RINO. I think technically you have to be from this galactic cluster to be a RINO. Could be wrong.
You are right. FR is a view on the world of conservativism. The problem with conservatives is they are so high and mighty and always right. They won’t unite behind any candidate. 2010 and 2012 will be a repeat of 2008.
We need new conservative blood in the party. And for the most part, you're not going to find it by looking in all the usual places and at all the usual faces.
Sarah, Michelle Bachman, Tom Coburn, Ted Poe, Jeb Hensarling, John Carter....
Ping to the author’s question regarding FR birthers’ opinions of conservative pundits who won’t address/touch the eligibility issue.
Arlen Specter. He dropped the name.
Everyone’s a RINO to someone.
Next question...
Interesting. Your tagline seems to get the whole RINO issue...
I appreciate the post. A lot of petty attacks on good people. I haven’t decided on a preferred Presidential candidate yet, but whoever it is I hope they pick Judd Gregg as their running mate. A real common sense kind of guy.
He is rate as a “hard-core conservative”
http://www.ontheissues.org/Senate/Judd_Gregg.htm
A couple of weeks ago the Paul-ites were ready to kill him for opposing Ron Paul’s attempts to give Congress more control over the Fed. I didn’t think the hositility directed towards Senator Gregg was justified. Even if Ron Paul can do no wrong, disagreeing with Paul on an issue doesn’t make Gregg evil suddenly.
You nailed us. We don’t act like Democrats, and we don’t like it when Republicans do. “...as of 11/6/08, John McCain is a favorite whipping boy....” Please, give us more credit than that. Most of us whipped McCain long before that, years before that. Too bad other Republicans didn’t listen, before it was too late. “Charles Krauthammer is a lib because he’s no fan of Sarah Palin?” That would be enough reason not to like him, but Charles ranks right up there with McCain.
Unfortunately, there has been but one perfect man in the history of this planet — and we crucified Him.
Simply labeling someone a RINO may be too simplistic. One must weigh the good vs. the bad of each candidate individually. All have ideological imperfections. Some are dealbreakers. Some aren’t.
It is relative to your options. I voted for John McCain. I didn’t vote for him in the primary because there were FAR better candidates. In the general election, there weren’t any better choices available. I’d have preferred Fred Thompson, or Duncan Hunter, or even Mitt or Huck to McCain. But, they were eliminated. So ... my choices were McCain or Obama. McCain was an easy choice.
To me, a RINO is someone I would never seriously consider voting for in a Republican Primary — someone with an ideological flaw that is a dealbreaker for me. McCain qualifies. Mitt and Huck qualify. Olympia Snowe. Lindsey Graham. There are plenty of others.
