What Wrong With the Drudge Report????? (vanity)
Me Cause I'm Curious
Posted on 12/01/2009 5:57:47 AM PST by LoveUSA
What's up with the Drudge Report? The news is flat and the coverage is not as crisp as it used to be. Sometimes things of interest go unreported (cyber Monday, for example) but silly Hollywood stuff IS reported (for filler, perhaps). Sometimes the subject is repeated twice on the page; sometimes different articles on the same subject are filed in different sections of the page.

Drudge has always concentrated on Hollywood stories. From the very beginning. I’m pretty sure he’s located out in Los Angeles.

Yeah, Drudge is doing a great job with CLIMATEGATE! It's only THE BIGGEST SCIENTIFIC SCANDAL IN A CENTURY!

Drudge is in LA.
My understanding is that it’s a small operation.
They are probably off for Thanksgiving.

Drudge used to link to Freerepublic. It is how I found this site in the year 2000.
Because of that fact I am inclined to cut him some slack. He was pivotal in my awakening!

Drudge was the first. Like Henry Ford and the Model T, Drudge created Cyber Journalism and started a revolution. Now, like old Ford himself, Drudge has competition: TMZ on the celeb stuff; Free Republic on breaking political news, BigGovernment on investigations, etc. To some extent they all owe Drudge a tip of the hat...

Drudgereport not what it used to be. The guy has become LAZY, doesn’t update his page for days on end and misses out - deliberately or out of ignorance, on some of the big news stories of the day. I mean the guy doesn’t even have to write articles. All he has to do is go through user submitted tips and pick and choose whatever he likes. And now he doesn’t even do that.

Maybe Drudge has eloped with Charles Johnson, and they’re honeymooning at one of Arianna’s spare retreats.

I have noticed that also. I use to pull up Drudge a number of times during the day for news updates and all to often there isn’t anything new on the website. Now I come here more often for updates.

For news:
Freerepublic #1
Drudgereport #2
I expect Hollywood stories highlight on Drudgereport; it’s always been that way.

Drudge currently links to FR. There was a period when he stopped, but the link is currently there in the left column two entries down from FOXNEWS.

I'm not too concerned about Matt's failure to report on “Cyber Monday”.
He does have, at the top of his page, a story about Zero bumping “A Charlie Brown Christmas” off the air tonight. Charlie Brown was the best, most decent and most religious mainstream Christmas special ever produced for American television. I'm glad Drudge didn't miss the significance of the story.

FR is on the cutting edge of news. We have hundreds of our own Matt Drudge's researching the news
without bias -- AND doing a better job of it. Drudge, for example completely ignored the Best Buy/Eid al Adha flap likely because he receives whore money from a sponsor that carries Best Buy's ad. So did Michelle Malkin who's normally on top of such things.
If you want news, you come to FR.

Probably just like all other blogs.
I understand its still a blog...could be wrong.
They keep track of stories that get hits. Most popular are usually pop culture stories. Naturally they will run more of what gets more hits.
