LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - U.S. actor Alec Baldwin says he has lost interest in acting and considers his film career a failure.

"I don't have any interest in acting anymore," Baldwin, 51, told "Men's Journal" in an interview for its December issue.

Baldwin, best-known for his Emmy-award winning role in the NBC comedy "30 Rock" and the man chosen to co-host the 2010 Oscar ceremony, added: "Movies are a part of my past. It's been 30 years. I'm not young, but I have time to do something else".

Politics. We’ll wish he was still a bad actor.

Baldwin says he’s a failure. I agree.

Couldn’t happen to a nicer fellow. [/sarc]

I’m sure he’ll do some polling before 30 Rock wraps up to decide if he’ll give up acting. He has to be in the limelight - either acting or politics.

I know how he feels.

I also lost interest in his acting. Sometime soon after Hunt for Red October.

The dude's just hit bottom. Happens to almost everyone to some degree.

Time for him to get reacquainted with God.

Let me guess, he will follow Al Franken's lead and run for the Senate.

Alec Baldwin.... "Movies are a part of my past. It's been 30 years. I'm not young, but I have time to do something else".

Hey Alec, you left-wing socialist retard, here's a suggestion. Leave our country, go live in France or some other socialist cesspool, and don't ever come back to the USA. That would give you something else to do!!!

His opening monologue in Glenngary Glenn Ross was truly epic (foul language alert). And I thought he did a great job in The Aviator. I don't know if I'd say a failure, but fizzled would fit... Not from a lack of talent, but from poor script choice.

I met his brother Steven in Las Vegas during the 2008 campaign. I told him he was a great American and he thanked me for the comment.

“Hunt for Red October” and “The Shadow” were good films. The remake of “The Getaway” was terrible since he could now be compared directly with Steve McQueen .. And lost. The politics andbweight gain followed. Goodbye Alec!
