Alec Baldwin considers entire film career a 'complete failure'

Alec Baldwin, the US actor, has said he has lost interest in acting and considers his film career a failure.

"I consider my entire movie career a complete failure," he told the magazine. "The goal of moviemaking is to star in a film where your performance drives the film, and the film is either a soaring critical or commercial success, and I never had that."

Baldwin has expressed interest in politics in the past but did not say in the interview what he intended to do if he quit acting.

SNL ceased being funny years ago, pretty much around the time Phil Hartman was murdered. So if the Baldwin sketches of which you speak were done since then, I wouldn't have seen them. If they were done before then, they evidently weren't very memorable.

I’ve always thought he came off as phony and stilted in his films. In GGR, he was the weak link.

He’s VERY funny in 30 Rock, playing a conservative. I think he’s quite talented. I didn’t want to like him, I really didn’t, but he’s good.

I understand. I comfort myself thinking he has the soul of a conservative. Who knows? Dennis Miller switched - maybe Alec Baldwin could too... Both were/are too smart to be liberals. Both were/are strong men, not wusses - - could happen. Like you 30 Rock is one of my favorites. Well, actually it's the only network show I watch... so it's the favorite.

His was the weakest scene in the film. It wasn’t bad per se just not as good as everything else in it. Notably it was written for the film and was not in the play.
