I’m shocked.....NOT!!! Just watch any NBA game.
I’ve never been much of a basketball fan, but one of the observations I made years ago was that the rules of the game weren’t compatible with much of a free-flowing game. Too many damn whistles from start to finish.
My youngest daughter played varsity basketball in high school. I watched pretty much every game. The reffing was almost laughable. In the first couple of games I thought it was just a “girls basketball doesn’t get good refs” sort of thing. It became pretty obvious what they were doing after watching a few games.
It angered me because I didn’t really care who won or lost the game, except when it was obvious that the decisive team in the game was the refs. I normally get angry at pretty much nothing. It became hard to watch those games. And the college games were no better.
This is the reason I quit watching all sports except Nascar.
And Nascar has been on my sh!tlist recently.
So I guess the hip-hop/thug/criminal mentality which has infected our society has nothing to do with it, eh? Blame the authorities, while the criminals go blameless...did the ACLU fund this study?
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
I never watch pro basketball. It reminds me too much of professional wrestling.
I used to umpire softball games and one day it occurred to me that if one team was getting beaten really bad, I would subconsciously take it a bit easier on them. Nothing obvious tho.
I think about all games FB, BB are decided by the refs.
It has gotten to the point where I am losing my interest in watching the games.
The refs do pretty good with what they have to work with, but they need to change some rules. Raise the basket to 12 ft. and widen the lane, and limit the dribbles to two. In FB the guy with the ball should have at least one foot across the goal before he is down to score a TD.
When Robots ref, I’ll consider watching again.
