I’ve never been much of a basketball fan, but one of the observations I made years ago was that the rules of the game weren’t compatible with much of a free-flowing game. Too many damn whistles from start to finish.
Stopped watching basketball during the Jordan era for this reason. Like in football, there is a penalty/foul/infraction on every play and it’s up to the officials to maintain the flow of the games and keep the players safe. What it turns into is a lovefest with high-profile players. Guys travel so far they need a ticket and bang into other players like they’re moving furniture, throw elbows like Superfly Snuka and it’s overlooked.
I always say that if the NFL officials start to call offensive pass interference, they’re looking for ways to change the outcome.
