Mostly negative comments from the Rolling Stone readers. Madonna got away with it, it will be interesting to see if Lambert is treated like her, or like Janet Jackson.

Personally I miss the Go-Gos. I'm just as glad I watched Masterpiece Theater.

I didn’t watch the show, but this is all over the news.

“Alas, we got those, and a lot more than I’d hoped/bargained for: Adam dragging a female backup dancer across the stage by her leg, as if she were a lace-covered sack of potatoes; Adam grasping the head of a submissive-styled male backup dancer and pulling him into an uncomfortable round of simulated oral sex (while ABC muted the audio to protect us from who only knows what); a tutu-clad woman cupping Adam’s nether-regions; Adam grasping and snapping the leather “bikini area” (for lack of a better term) of a female dancer’s costume; and Adam taking a break from his singing duties for an impromptu game of tongue twister with a keyboardist of indeterminate gender.”

Poll here:

So, um, Adam Lambert’s American Music Awards performance?

Loved it! Glambert is absolutely here for my entertainment.

Hated it! *About* to get rough? That was beyond rough enough for me.

Lighten up, it’s show biz.

Enough is enough — this was unacceptable in prime time.

What was the deal with the hair???

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/gossip/2009/11/poll-adam-lambert-ama-performance-provocative-or-porn.html

I said that, “Enough is enough — this was unacceptable in prime time. That is currently in second right now. Unfortunately, 39% are saying they loved it.

My guess is that the MSM won’t want to offend and will praise it for being “edgy”.

Nobody forced me to watch, but I did. Jermaine Jackson thanked “allah”...Adam Lambert and Lady Gaga have to be the same ‘human’ experiment.

As talented as Adam was in Wicked, I am so dissapointed.

He doesn’t need disgusting sexual theatrics and that crap just destracted from his normally decent vocals.

Somebody was expecting taste and restraint from the music industry? They *sell* sleaze, for crying out loud. It’s their commodity.

Adam Lambert Falls Down, Takes Second AMAs Tumble | 2009 AMAs ...

Adam Lambert attempts his way up a set of stairs before taking a tumble on stage while performing his new single “For Your Entainment” at the 2009 American Music Awards at L.A.’s Nokia Theatre on Sunday (November 22).

The 27-year-old American Idol vet recovered very well, tucking and rolling into his next position. Overall, Adam, who closed the show, gave a very provocative performance, shoving people’s faces into his crotch, acting out S&M fantasies and kissing both men and women.

The song is not that bad. If he had only sung it with his usual skill and heart, and left everything to words and innuendo, it would be a huge hit. There was no need to pounce around orgiastically with all the people on stage.

One thing I appreciated about him on Idol was his obvious intelligence and kindness. It made me think he was considerate.

His fans were of all genders and ages. All of them were considerate of HIM, allowing him to be openly gay and live his life, and they were ready to buy his music.

He showed total lack of consideration for his fans tonight so I am reconsidering my opinion on his intelligence.

Sexy is one thing. Trashy trying-too-hard groping and forcing is definitely NOT sexy. It is offensive, especially to all of his younger fans, and plenty of the older ones too.

Subtlety is an art, Adam.

Madonna never did anything equivalent to this, in this type of venue, at this point in her career.

This kid is just stupid.

Rolling Stone has learned that producers weren’t informed about the guy-on-guy kiss in advance, and after the show, Lambert told RS the musician he kissed is a straight man.

And yet if the straight man had beaten the crap out of Lambert for his public assault, he would have been the one charged with an anti-gay hate crime.

Funny what’s considered cutting edge in 2009. Jim Morrison (The Doors) was doing this sort of thing —and getting arrested for it— back in the 60s. Everything old is new again I guess. If Adam Lambert had really wanted to shock people he should have come out and waved an American flag and done a shout out to the troops. That would have been really edgy.
