Nov. 19, 2009 NEW YORK - Chaz Bono said beginning the sex-change process to turn him from a woman to a man is "the best decision I've ever made."
The 40-year-old writer, activist and reality-TV star, who was born a girl to Sonny Bono and Cher, said he's eight months into the years-long transformation and said he feels great.
Formerly called Chastity, he told ABC's "Good Morning America" on Thursday: "Life is short and life is precious. This is who I am. I need to finally be who I am."
Bono said he always felt like a boy growing up and came out as a lesbian 11 years ago. Now he's undergone gender-reassignment surgery and hormone therapy.

... ‘his’ ...
Only a warped liberal mind says sexual orientation is absolutely fixed, but gender is not, as it’s nothing but a social construct.
Well if looks had anything to do with it She/He/It made a good decision.
Looks more like a species change to me.
She was such a beautiful little girl.
She was such a beautiful little girl.
To each his/her own.
Why should I care?
How profoundly tragic. When you think back to Chastity Bono in her dad’s arms on Sonny and Cher, this is unbelievable sad. Somebody, somewhere horribly messed up — and it wasn’t God.
“He” is still a “she”.
A mutilated, strap-on she.
Chaz, I remember you as a cute little girl. Why you’d think God or nature meant you to be a fat, ugly, homely guy is absolutely beyond me.
I really feel sorry for her/him/it. She hasn’t had any sort of purpose in life, as far as I can tell. Some lame attempt to start a band and have a “career” in music is the only thing I’ve heard of her ever doing, besides giving interviews about coming out as a lesbian and then coming out as a man. She’s going to be left with exactly the same gaping hole in her life, no matter what her body looks like or what she calls herself.
If Cher is your mother and Gregg Allman was a stepfather, you are going to have BIG problems
*sigh*. I am so tired of this pseudo-psychologcical-sociological BS.
Yeah, but dad was Sonny, so she has one good thing going for her.
Yes, all that and mentally ill.
