Flat boots? She is obviously very insecure about her height.
Um this was the Veterans Day event at Arlington. Not actually a funeral. At Ft. Hood she did wear black the other day. Pains to say it. However, the empire belt thing has to go. Otherwise, my wife, a Colonel in the fashion police tells me she is dressed ok. The lady next to her is my idea of how a lady dresses to go to Arlington.
I have referred to it as a hose clamp, however I am probably not the only FReeper to do so...
You know, this is like a car wreck. I know I shouldn’t be looking, but just can’t help myself. So now we have coat boob belts. If she takes the coat off, does she have another belt underneath or just put this one back on? I don’t dress in anything remotely approaching high fashion, but for Pete’s sake, with her resources... This is like out of Saturday Night Live or Monty Python. Nah, the guys in drag on Python looked better.

I wonder some things. Maybe we’re being a little insular and vain to think that Obama or the Missus have any idea about the fun that is made of them on sites like this. They wouldn’t read it and who would dare tell them?
Would Obama continue to read so obviously from a teleprompter even on occasions where a short heartfelt speech is called for?
Would Michelle wear the incredibly ugly and unsuitable belts?
I think a more subdued color would have been more appropriate and I don’t mind the smile. How often can she muster one up. We should be glad to see the occasional smile from this dour and cranky woman.
Sometimes I think she is playing a huge joke on all of us, trying to see what she can get by with and still be on best-dressed lists by her sycophants.
Just wonderin’ stuff.
Those rules are archaic and made to be broken. But the boots are way too trendy and ‘look at me’ for an occasion like this.
Makes me remember fondly Condi in her boots. She looked great and was widely criticized anyway, as I recall.
altura a big part of me agrees with you. She no doubt has an ego to match her butt & figures she doesn’t care what the world /others think.. SHE IS THE TREND SETTER.. the way people fawn over her appearance is nothing less than shocking.
The woman can look good & does so on RARE occasions. Just another source of embarrassment to us at this point

Condi has class, but Michelle never did and never will have class.
It is so obviously impractical. What will she do if she goes indoors? Does she take off this belt with her coat? Where does she *store* it? Does she have to put it back on top of her outfit under the coat - or is there a spare one there waiting to be displayed?
I have this image of her closet with a mechanical belt hanger - you know the ones they sell on late night infomercials? - and it is full of huge, ugly, industrial-looking belts. So each time she is dressing she just pushes a button, closes her eyes, and when she stops spinning the automatic belt hanger - she puts on whatever happens to be in front :)
