Milwaukee muggers see Army ID, return wallet

A Milwaukee Army reservist says four muggers returned his belongings when they discovered his military identification.

The 21-year-old college student says he was walking home from work about 1:15 a.m. Tuesday when he was pulled into an alley and told to lay face down with a gun to his neck. Four men took his wallet, $16, keys and his cell phone.

But the reservist says when one of the men saw an Army ID in the wallet, he told the others to return items. He also apologized and thanked the reservist for serving.

The reservist says one robber gave him a quick fist bump before walking away.

The reservist asked not to be identified because the robbers still have his keys.

Milwaukee police spokeswoman Anne E. Schwartz says the story is credible. She says the suspects are being sought.

I guess this shows that a criminal can still be a patriot and do the right thing.

I believe we have found the exact working definition of “ambivalence.”

Or at least *imagine* that he’s being a patriot and doing the right thing.

You will occasionally find honorable men amongst thieves. Just as often you will find thieves amongst honorable men.

I’m thinking more practical. Think of the “gang” they were screwing with. Army guys aren’t couch potatos playing video games. They’re using real obstacle courses and real bullets.

Laugh if you must, but I was in LI City, NY and someone was supposed to meet me and I was parked in front of a bar at closing time....right near a taxi ‘gas farm’.. and was really getting edgy when the ‘locals’ kept coming by and checking me out...was real nervous as the guy showed up and was telling him of my apprehension and he pointed to a Vietnam Vet sticker on my Truck and said I was ‘safe’ as long as I minded my own business....That was little comfort but appreciated...seems a lot of the ‘older’ bangers are vets or at least have compadres serving....
I guess ‘Little things mean a lot’ is not just a song title.

Criminals respect our military more than our liberal congressmen. That is disturbing.

Isn't it ironic that common muggers have more respect for our military than liberals... That criminals treat our military better than the Kenyan... That would-be thieves share more middle-class values than Democrats? Hmmm?

You know you’re living in strange times when muggers have more respect for American servicemen than the President of the United States.

They had the drop on him. There were four of them against one of him. He was face down in an alley with a gun to his neck.

Maybe the incident at Fort Hood caused the one thug to reconsider.

Nice: Obama's hatred of the country hasn't spread everywhere yet.

Cheers!

That’s a nicer thought then my first reaction. I was thinking it probably means the mugger is himself enlisted.
