Great people still exist in rural areas Washington and Oregon. Take away the solid blue big cities, and the Northwest would still be God’s Country.

This is one of the reasons I so love fastpitch softball. I have yet to see an instance of bench clearing, spike up, or any of the other ‘rough and tumble’ crap that baseball produces. These young women learn to compete, do their best, and respect each other. This is what builds character

Honestly, I'm not sure that would even have occurred to me if I were in that game. So not only was this a very nice thing to do, just the devising of the method of resolution was brilliant. Those girls were made of some good stuff.

An awesome story!
I didn't hurt my knee, but like this young lady, was a line drive hitter in college, never once hitting anything more than a double and ended my career with a .352 BA. A few years later, I ended up playing against my college softball coach in a slow pitch tournament. She was pitching. And I hit my first ever home run off her. It cleared the fence with lots of room to spare. I can not express the joy at hitting a first home run. I hit another one a few innings later but was called out due to the home run rule. After the game, my coach came up to me and said, 'I never thought I'd ever see you hit a home run.' Then gave me a big hug.
I've never forgotten that day. So I'm touched to see opposing players help this young lady have the same, unforgettable feeling.

I played organized fast pitch softball for 20 years. I was still learning things about life from it in my 40s.
It’s a great game.

That’s a cool video. Thanks for posting.
My daughter was an excellent softball player, her team’s main pitcher, for many years. I miss watching her play.
