A PROMISING young Canadian musician has been attacked and killed by coyotes while on a tour promoting her new album. Taylor Mitchell, 19, was considered a rising star of the folk music scene, having just earned a Canadian Folk Music Awards nomination.
She was hiking alone on the Syline Trail in Cape Breton Highlands National Park when a pair of coyotes attacked her.
Tourists rushed to her aid when they heard her screams and found Mitchell bleeding heavily from mulitple wounds "all over her body", according to The Canadian Press. "She was losing a considerable amount of blood from her wounds," paramedic Paul Maynard told TCP. One of the animals was later shot by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, but the other got away.
Park officials said it was highly unusual for coyotes to be involved in such an aggressive attack.

Taylor Swift probably wonders why couldn’t it have been CholeraJoe.
Perhaps, but I’ve never heard of coyotes going after adult people is a head scratcher. Additionally, I’ve never seen them hunt together. Many odd and curious things do happen though.
I’d believe a feral dog or Coydog. Doubtful on a Coyote unless she was down and bleeding.
Interestingly, a Mule is one of the most efficient Coyote killers. They let them get in on the rear legs and “bang, zoom - to the moon.” It’s comical to watch in a weird way.
Oh! This is awful!
She could’ve gotten a hell of a song out of this.
Yeah, I can scare off a Cougar with my comb-over.
Coyotes fiercely protect their dens, fighting to the death. I have seen coyotes take on bobcats (well once I saw a coyote pair chase a bobcat out of the area).
Once I was working in the desert, and took a wiz. The next day, I noticed that there were coyote tracks around where I had gone and it was still wet. Betting that a coyote had marked his territory over me, I made sure I did it again. Next day, same thing so I continued. After about 4 days of this, the coyote simply defecated on the spot, ending the discussion. He won as far as I was concerned.
.....Bob
LOL.
You're going to create an imbalance in the coyote/folk singer populations if you only cull half of the problem...
I don’t know about the coyotes up there, but in the South they are only about 25-40 lbs. On the smallish dog side of sizes.
Coyotes have been getting much more aggressive of late.
I think they are mixed with dog.
Dude, do you even have a job? You are on every thread I’ve looked at today.
BTW, welcome.
Hey Kanye! Wad’s up, boy-ee?!
You’re suggesting another lovely young woman should have been attacked instead??? Wouldn’t it have been better to have asked why wasn’t it Kanye West?

The Eastern Coyote - Our Biggest Dog
The eastern coyote is actually a wolf-coyote mix, having interbred with wolves in northern Québec and Ontario as it moved eastwards. The mixed parentage has made it a very effective and adaptable predator.

Very sad
I have seen several young dairy heifers attack a young teenaged boy at our farm one day -
Animals are unpredictable - especially if they know how humans act
A 6 month old Brahma heifer can turn on you too from behind - flipping them down and applying steel-toed boots is the cure - but you still will have some black and blue spots
I wore my Colt and would shoot any dog, bull, rattler, horse, or gator if it became a problem
We found large cougar tracks near the woods quite often
I’ve seen a Brahma cow attack an experienced rider and put a horn through part of the saddle and kill a fine quarter horse at a large ranch near the Everglades
What a horrible thing to say, even in jest!
A grandfather hiking a trail...with his 4-year-old grandson was attacked yesterday by a coyote, but saved the youngster by grappling with the animal as it continued to bite him.
