'Thumb splitters'. Nasty-sounding little buggers. I wonder how they'd be beer-steamed with some Old Bay.........

Trouble is, these new DVDs will wind up costing a bunch of people their thumbs.

“Just why the mantis shrimp needs such a rarefied level of vision is unclear, although researchers suspect it is to do with food and sex.”
I would agree with those ideas; that’s really the two reasons I do pretty much anything.

"....have the most complex eyes in the animal kingdom. They can see in 12 primary colors, four times as many as humans, and can also detect different kinds of light polarization -- the direction of oscillation in light waves."Without further research, more complex than the hummingbird?
Interesting.

With the price of blu ray players dropping over time I have trouble imagining picture...or sound...quality being much better than that.

Rather than improving the DVD’s why not improve our eyes? I’d love to see “12 primary colors”...

They can see in 12 primary colorsThat's interesting since there are only three primary colors.

How long is the physical format even going to be around, though? More and more people are choosing to rent through on demand. The next player is probably going to be another Tivo-type hard drive unit.
