ST. CHARLES, Ill.- A 5-year-old Illinois boy who apparently sleepwalked to his elementary school was safely returned to his family, authorities said.
Kane County sheriff's deputies said the boy was discovered unharmed but disoriented at Anderson Elementary School in St. Charles about 1:30 a.m. Sunday, the Aurora (Ill.) Beacon-News reported Wednesday.
Sheriff's Lt. Pat Gengler said the boy was having trouble remembering his address and told officers he was at the school to watch a movie with his mother. Gengler said the boy's mother had discussed a movie night with him Saturday.
The boy was taken to Delnor Hospital in Geneva, Ill., where a school district official identified him and determined his address. Gengler said the child's parents were sleeping when deputies brought him home.
"This is just kind of one of those way-out-there things," Gengler said. "We're lucky and we're happy it turned out this way. If it was December or January, it could have been a sad ending."
That’s just like me except I usually always go to the refrigerator.
usually always sorry for the oxymoron.
Sometimes never????
Now you are just confusing me!
I have a confession. One night about 15 years ago, I was dreaming that I was hungry and sleepwalked to the kitchen. On the counter was a half gallon plastic container of dry CAT KIBBLE. I guess I was dreaming that it was full of delicious human-munchies, and proceeded to open it up and shove a mouthful in my mouth.
It took about 15 seconds for my taste buds to recognize that THIS was NOT the munchies I wanted! I spit it out and then was fully awake, staring down at the cat food, I knew that I had been sleepwalking.
Never happened again .....(as far as I know.)
My kids used to sleepwalk and so did I.
It is really scary when you cook and eat something and the only reason you know it happened is the plate with fork and knife the next morning.
It really is a bad thing. That is why a person who has had a history of sleepwalking should never take a sleeping pill.
When my brother was about 9 years old he awoke about 9:00pm walked into the kitchen area where there was a small garbage pail, peed in the pail, and went back to bed....all without remembering,......all while my parents looked on in amazement. He has not lived that down to this day.
My brother has done much worse — as a grown man.
I did the same thing as a kid only peed in a closet, thought I was in the bath room.
