Would it were that the Vatican wall could shut out bogus philosophy as well as unauthorized people. Then eyebrow raising statements would never show up in things like L’Osservatore.

I’m not going to keep this up, when everything I say I observe gets blamed back on me.

Most of this stuff continued growing under JPII. It’s coming to the fore now as orthodoxy reasserts itself and the sheep begin to recognize the wolves among them.

The Bishops once a year collection in every church for “social” use started decades ago....My hubby and I use to argue about it every time it came around...He didn't pay attention to what the money was used for and I did...Also the U of D a catholic university fired a non-catholic instructor for making too much noise being anti-abortion. That little incident made the Detroit News. The church is not as pure as they want you to think....This is coming from someone that use to be a devout catholic, and is not catholic anymore...The church has much to love, but much that is disgusting.

I am speaking of the church back in the 60-70's. Don't really know anything current within the church except what I read on F.R. Or hear on TV.

Well I get the same appeal, and I told my wife that I was going to write back to the msgr and ask just how much of this was allocated to paying of the “victims” of pedophile priests and how much was allocated to the ongoing payments to the mistresses of bishops (scandal in the Atlanta diocese about 12 years ago) And I'd also like to know how much was allocated to helping illegal immigrants elude law enforcement. That started a real yell with the net result that I sent the form back with a note that I couldn't afford to contribute anything.

Years back with me and hubby, his contribution went from 50 dollars to 5 dollars. We compromised...Big argument also. (but I won :O). Even thought I still bit**ched for a while on the 5 dollars....More people should pay attention to what happens to money given to charity....I have been a supporter of Christian Children's Fund since the 1980's...They decided recently to change the name and dropped Christian from their name....I dropped them and wrote them why, my support ends Dec 31st. Told them if they are ashamed of being called Christian, I don't want any part of their organization...They are now just another charity, I'll send to Salvation Army, and Gideons (googled to the Gideons (sp) to get their address.

CCF has been called that for 70 years....

I got a reply from them but won't give to an organization that is ashamed of the name Christian.

Over the years I have had at least 6 children I took care of and we would write back and forth....too bad

No, I’m talking the Church. They’re Statist. They’re Statist in their economics, support the welfare state, support unlimited open immigration and other things.

The entire Vatican II document Gaudium et Spes mandates that all Vatican II Catholics work diligently for "Social Justice" -- which it describes as working for world peace, working for the equal distribution of economic wealth and working for the equal distribution political power through cooperation in an "international community."

http://www.vatican.va/archive/hist_councils/ii_vatican_council/documents/vat-ii_cons_19651207_gaudium-et-spes_en.html

For excessive economic and social differences between the members of the one human family or population groups cause scandal, and militate against social justice, equity, the dignity of the human person, as well as social and international peace.
--Gaudium et Spes 29

According to V-2, if you are not doing this, you are not living according to the Gospel.

VII being a ‘pastoral council’does not bind anyone.

I agree, but most Catholics do not know that. The "social justice" teaching in the Church is not only from radicals and dissenters. It is from the heart of the Vatican itself.

And most of the congregation do not know that Gaudium et Spes is not protected with infallibility.

I share a lot of your concerns. Our petitions are very “kumbaya” also. It is aggravating to hear them right in the middle of Mass. I’ve taken to letting out a big sigh when I hear a really convoluted one!

Keep searching for a spiritual home. I have found that Masses very early in the day tend to be more traditional. The “new” parishioners like to sleep in. The music is much more traditional at the early morning Masses and it all feels much more Christ centered.

Several months ago, I noticed, in our church bulletin, that they were looking to form a ‘social justice’ committee. That was the last I’ve heard of it. Of course, I don’t go there much anymore. I try to go to a parish with the traditional Latin Mass (Extraordinary Form), when I can.

I like the heavy sigh, tactic.

Thanks for the suggestions. Maybe I’ll shoot for the 7:30 mass.

Since the petitions are just before the collection, what I dream of doing is holding the donation envelope above my head while they are read. Then, if they read a goofy one, rip-rip-rip. I’d never do it, of course, but I’m sure tempted!

Yes, but take heart. We know how it all ends.

Anybody know what the original Latin was that is translated in the Catechism as “social justice?”

The core of communism is control. The concept “From each according to his ability, to each according to his need.” is impossible and a lie. Communism is NOT about equality. It's about inequality. Yes you may be equal to your neighbor, but you will never be equal to the power structure that needs you to be bound like a dog.

How did Russia all of a sudden have billionaires after the “fall” of communism? It's because these individuals were busy stealing money and gathering power from people who were busy being equal and giving up their power. They were part of the power structure.

Communism is a means to put control in the hands of a few. America is in danger of heading in that direction with government constantly growing and schools teaching a hatred for making money on your own.

This is a battle for the soul of America.
