ALBERTVILLE, Ala. - A woman was charged with endangering the welfare of a child after police said she let her daughter ride in a box on top of their van. Albertville Police spokesman Sgt. Jamie Smith said 37-year-old Jackie Denise Knott was arrested Sunday after police received a call of a minivan traveling on U.S. 431 with a large cardboard box on top with a child inside.
Smith said the woman told police the box was too big to go inside the van, and that her daughter was inside the box to hold it down.

Stupid woman. She’s lucky her daughter didn’t end up in a box.

Smith said the mother told officers it was safe because she had the box secured to the van with a clothes hanger.

Oh, well, that makes it ok. The lady shouldn’t even be allowed to drive.

Clothes hanger, huh? Well, if anything had gone wrong I guess it would just be considered a late-term abortion.

Back when I was a teenager, like this kid is, if my parents had me on top of the car holding stuff down, all the other kids in school would say “Cool”
Actually, It happened and the kids said “Cool” - it was the 70’s...even rode unsecured in the back of pick up trucks - wow!

I guess her brain fell out of her head when going over a bump on some previous trip.
Seriously, though, the kid was a “teen”, and also didn’t know better than to go along with this? Or was the kid bullied into it, and starting waving frantically and hollering “Help!” to passing vehicles?
There just *has* to have been a drugs/alcohol factor here. Teenage child was safe in a box on top of a moving van, because the box was secured to the van with a *hanger*? As in a “hanger” that’s designed to secure a piece of clothing weighing a pound or two max to the underside of closet rod, with the aid of gravity aiming in the desired direction?
