There were cats galore and even more
the gauzy spooks flitting all around
who’s to know who knocks at the door
or who’ll jump at the smallest sound
The candy and the smiling kids were there
and we laughed at each and gave their share
hobgoblins and witches and frights with hair
we even saw a raggedy three foot tall bear
The wind and weather teamed for a cloudy night
and we loosed howls from the porch speaker
those who dared the gloomy porch treated right
and those who ran were surely Olympic streakers
Tomorrow they all be brave and brag their bag
the candy and the treats they claimed from fright
and none were scare of the troll or the hag
at least not by the sun’s most welcome light

It is perfect!
We live out in the boondocks and never get visited by Ghosts or Goblins.
I usually get enough chocolate for a couple of dozen .... just in case. :)
