ET breaks news that acting legend Dennis Hopper has been rushed to a New York hospital.
Sources tell ET that the actor was brought in by ambulance to the emergency room at a Manhattan hospital, wearing an oxygen mask and with numerous tubes visible.
The 73-year-old Hollywood icon has been nominated for an Oscar twice -- for co-writing 1969's 'Easy Rider,' and for acting in 1986's 'Hoosiers.'

A tweet I just read said he was rushed with severe respritory problems. Another says tubes were seen coming out of his body and hooked up to oxygen and another said he was conscious but in serious condition not critical.

He was great in Hoosiers and many, many other films.

All reports that I have seen report Hopper taken to hospital with flu-like symptoms, not a heart attack.

Oh, sure, they say it’s a heart attack. What it actually is is Bruce Smith finally found out Dennis was sniffing his shoes.

Yeah. His publicist said the 73 year old actor had flu-like symptoms and was taken to the hospital. This was 29 minutes ago.

Great actor. Hopper’s performance in Apocalypse Now was brilliant. His role as Frank Booth in Blue Velvet has to rank as the creepiest SOB ever on film. Prayers to him.

Loved Hopper in “Hoosiers” as the assistant basketball coach. Still probably the best sports movie I’ve ever seen. I hope he can pull out of this.

He's been one of my favorite actors since Easy Rider.
I hope he recovers, but if you gotta go, fast is the way to do it.
