There is just too much money to be made both by the people who grow marijuana and the cities and counties that would be able to tax it.
Willie BrownIdiot. Why would people pay tax for something they are currently getting tax free?

Will the state only allow the government to oversee the growing of the marijuana? Or will you be able to grow it in your closet?

I’ve been asking pro-dope libertarians that for years. Why are liberaltarians so anxious to increase taxes and grow the government to even greater proportions?
Immoral dopeheads; the lot of ‘em.

And why would sellers (who are breaking the law now), want to do the paperwork and pay the taxes? Why not continue breaking the law?
Their logic escapes me....

Idiot. Why would people pay tax for something they are currently getting tax free? Idiot. 'Cuz it would be LEGAL! DUH!!!!!! No longer would we face criminal penalties for enjoying marijuana in the privacy of our own homes! Freedom isn't free, therefore I would gladly pay a tax when the other option is having a criminal record. Besides, rarely have I ever gotten my marijuana for free.

Idiot. Why would people pay tax for something they are currently getting tax free? If tobacco was easier to grow, there would be a booming black market in cigs right now, and sooner or later some body in Columbia or else where is going to figure that out, grow a legal crop in Columbia, quit fighting the government down there and run the tobacco into this country as contraband. A no brainer.

Because black market distribution averages a 500% price increase in every transaction step and white market distribution is almost always below 300% markup. So even with taxes it’ll be cheaper.

Why would people pay tax for something they are currently getting tax free? Because the black market markup is worse than the tax.
