Idiot. Why would people pay tax for something they are currently getting tax free? If tobacco was easier to grow, there would be a booming black market in cigs right now, and sooner or later some body in Columbia or else where is going to figure that out, grow a legal crop in Columbia, quit fighting the government down there and run the tobacco into this country as contraband. A no brainer.

You have to assume that part of the law would allow you to grow it yourself. You can grow tobacco yourself, tobacco is taxed, yet most people don’t grow their own tobacco.

Today’s illegal drug dealers will likely see a big hit in their wallets. Some people will grow it themselves, others will buy it in stores and pay a tax. There won’t be much of a profit for pot smuggling.
