I fail to see the offense. These are people who WANT to be offended. Being offended is a NOBLE thing to them.

Here's the evidence so we can judge for ourselves.

Controversial rock star Bob Geldof infuriated female delegates at the Global Irish Forum in Dublin Saturday when he told deputy Prime Minister Mary Coughlan that she had lovely legs. Why?
Were her legs fat and cellulite like?

This wasn't the anonymous source...was it? :o)

Nice legs.
If she didn’t want men to observe her legs, and presumably consider them attractive, why was she wearing a miniskirt?

Well for an older woman I believe that Prime Minister Merkel of Germany has a fabulous set of breasts. Now is there anything wrong with a nice compliment??????????
To: nickcarraway
If you don’t want to be noticed don’t expose them in a short skirt.
I am sorry, professional in very tight short skirt is using her sexuality and putting it out there. To be offended that people notice it is hypocrtical to say the least.

It's nothing new for Geldof to be upsetting people. Some of the people at the Forum still haven't forgiven him for calling Ireland a "banana republic" in the 1980s. In the 1980s, Ireland had rampant unemployment and high budget deficits. Lots of young Irish voted with their feet, emigrating, often illegally to the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Boston. After Ireland reformed its economy in the 1990s, many of those Irish went home.
In other words, Bob was on the mark with his comment.

The correct response to such a remark is, "thank you my husband agrees" and then ignoring it.
If the guy was trying to come on to you it warns him off.
If he was trying to fluster you then it stops him cold.
And if he is clumsily trying to give you a compliment then it allows him to extract himself with dignity.
