In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
pink \PINK\ verb
1a. to perforate in an ornamental pattern
1b. to cut a saw-toothed edge on *
2a. pierce, stab
2b. to wound by irony, criticism, or ridicule
* Indicates the sense illustrated in the example sentence.
Example sentence:
"The sleek curtain requires no sewing; we pinked the edges to add a bit of detail." (Jennie Voorhees, Martha Stewart Living, April 2002)
Did you know?
Our unabridged dictionary, Webster's Third New International, includes 13 distinct entries for "pink," whereas our abridged volume, Merriam-Webster's Collegiate, satisfies itself with the five most common. (Words get distinct entries in our dictionaries when they have different etymologies or different parts of speech.) Today's "pink," the only verb of the five, is from a Middle English word meaning "to thrust." Of the remaining four, the only "pink" older than the verb (which dates to 1503) is a 15th century noun referring to a kind of ship. The next-oldest noun has since 1573 referred to a genus of herbs. The noun referring to the color pink and its related adjective date to 1678 and 1720, respectively. Evidence suggests that a new verb "pink" -- a synonym of the verb "pink-slip" -- is also emerging.

I meant that there are no athletic scholarships in Division III.
I thought I was going dizzy the other night at Hoss’s, but it turns out the sneeze guard over the dessert bar was swaying.
I see. We laugh in the Big 12 because of the grad rates for the big schools - Oklahoma has a grad rate for their football players of 46%, U of texas is 50% - they claim it is because soooo many of their players go on to the NFL... four or 5 a year isn’t causing a less than 50% grad rate.... I’m proud that my Div I school, Texas Tech, has a 79% graduation rate and is honored for it every year. Baylor has a good rate too.
you have a HOSS’ ???? they closed down all the ones in NY state.......ticked of the ti family! we just went to eat there one night and it had shut down, the manager was telling employees in the parking lot because overnight the company just came and shut it down and took it all away...pathetic of them.
so far so good today....all symptoms are gone. I am sure the doctor will yell, but the kids arrive tomorrow and I have too much to do. it’s Maya’s second birthday today...dinner with the little ones tonight.
What she said!! Ditto to Whyisa!
Hoss’s is from PA. They seem to have contracted back to just PA and two stores in WV.
The clothes here could use some pinking (or maybe burning):

Of course schools are allowed to give financial assistance to students, including athletes.
To keep everyone honest, the NCAA requires each Division III school to report how much money it gives to students who play sports and how much money it gives to nonathletes. Those numbers show that athletes at Division III schools, on average, aren't getting significantly more money than nonathletes. Sports players make up 21 percent of the student body at Division III schools, he said. In recent years, the NCAA has found that athletes receive 22 percent of all the scholarship dollars handed out by Division III schools.
As you saw, they have financial aid specifically for athletes in the listed sports.
I saw that. It was great.
Sure Stewart is a big lib but he knows b.s. when he sees it.

I admire a man who can keep his sense of humor about him.

my son watches stewart for news, I learned that on my visit out......I just told him about the scandal and he got mad, but until jon tells him he won’t really believe! LOL the part about the senate voting 83 to 7 got his attention. it’s a good line for getting folks interested.
just saw the latest dirtbag ACORN guy on Hannity.....unbelievable! and they are taking a break......I am really hoping for a chigago/bams tape in the near future.
