Furious Serena Williams Dumped Out Of U.S. Open After She Told An Official: 'If I Could, I'd Take This Ball And Shove It Down Your Throat'
By DAILY MAIL REPORTER 13th September 2009
Serena Williams went kicking and screaming out of the semi-final of the US Open tennis championship after one of the ugliest ever endings to a major sports match.
Millions of TV viewers around the world saw the irate Wimbledon champion launch a threatening, profanity-laced tirade at a line judge after being called for a foot fault.
The extraordinary outburst meant she was docked a point on match point, handing victory to bemused Belgian opponent Kim Clijsters. Scroll down for video of the outburst
Serena's fault: The player launches into her nasty tirade at an official during the U.S. Open today If I could, I would take this **** ball and shove it down your **** throat, she reportedly said.
Having already been warned earlier in the match for smashing a racquet, Williams was docked a penalty point by the umpire for unsportsmanlike conduct to bring the match to a shocking close without another shot being played.
With the crowd booing, making part of the dialogue inaudible, Williams could then be heard on the court microphone pleading with the judges, saying: I didn t say I would kill you. Are you serious? I didnt say that.
The 27-year-old American was unrepentant after the Saturday night debacle, even though the diminutive lineswoman told the chair judge she felt threatened.
All hell broke loose, said former tennis bad boy John McEnroe.

Classy chick.
Probably ‘roid rage.
PMS?
...or a bad case of Jock Itch.
Racist?
Tic Tic...how long until we hear that the line judge is just a racist?
Audio on this clip is pretty clear what the half man half beast said.http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/tennis/usopen09/news/story?id=4468762
Sounds like a metaphor for Obamacare.
A great role model for America’s children.
“I never been in a fight in my whole life, so I don’t know why she would feel threatened? (smiles and bats eyelashes)”
I’m a 6’1”, 180 man, in good health and if I had this creature screaming at me with a racket which she could potentially bludgeon me with I would feel threatened, too.
What in the heck is wrong with saying; I made a mistake. I blew my lid and I apologize?
It must have been REALLY bad if John McEnroe was shocked.
That’s one temperamental dude.
I recently had someone show a bit of “attitude” and it was disconcerting. I can see why the line judge felt threatened. Is “in your face” behavior acceptable among some these days?
