Cops: Drunk driver goes flying, crashes into Long Island house's second floor

Like a scene out of the "Dukes of Hazzard," a driver launched his SUV from the road into the second-floor of a Long Island home early Saturday.

"All hell broke loose," said homeowner John Sarli, 58, who was sleeping at the far end of his E. Moriches house when the 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee crashed through the front.

"I was kind of in shock."

Suffolk County cops said Adam Clark, 20, was driving drunk when he hit a dirt berm 20 feet off E. Moriches Blvd. about 12:20 a.m.

The Jeep flew 65 feet into the grand foyer of Sarli's two-story Victorian house.

Meanwhile, Sarli said he had just put the house up for sale Friday - but would have to take it off the market.

"I'm not selling anything anymore," he said with a laugh.

Considering the insurance money potential this might actually be good fortune for Mr. Sarli.
