I was sick much of last month, still don't feel good, I'm just old, tired, aggravated and worn out, I suppose.
First is a LITTLE BLUE HERON, next a GREAT BLUE HERON, different birds altogether.
I love the color of the Magnolia seeds, nothing else quite like it.
Word has gotten out. He and about 6 others swing by once or twice a day for rabbit, chipmunk, dove and quail.
Really like the pictures.
I was just making a poor attempt at a pun: egret=regret.
That is a superfine shot!
Did you take that picture in York, PA? At Kiwanas Lake? There are a ton of Egrets, and Yellow Crowned Night Herons, and a few Black Crowned Night Herons nesting in those pine trees all around the lake?
thanks for the post, love the pictures, brightened my day, sorry you was not feeling well, hope you get to feeling better.
please add me to the ping list, thank you.
That looks like the Coopers Hawks that come by my yard to try and pick off off our African Gray Parrot who loves to spend time out doors. She’s on to their game and lets the whole neighborhood know when there’s danger afoot.
These hawks are fun to watch because they are so agile in flight compared to the soaring hawks. I watched one chase a finch and follow it’s dodging flight move for move and come to a momentary, hovering stop in the process. Their colors seem plain but up close they are beautiful in their subtle shadings and contrasts.
That bad boy will hurt you! I was cleaning a flooded ditch, something grabbed the shovel, and held on. I went back and got the shovel when the water went down!
I thought something was wrong about a week or so ago.
Glad you are feeling better.
Thank you for the fabulous pictures!
Nice pix, great looking bird; I had one of those visit the back yard spring last year (fortunately, the cockatiels were inside at the time ...) Managed to squeeze off a couple photos but nothing to compare to this one.
Love your pics. I hope you are on the mend.
Fantastic shot.....a once in a lifetime.......
Great picture
Snappers are nasty...My daughter lost one of her ducks to one in their pond...Her husband recently got a good shot at it...don’t know if he killed it or not...it didn’t float back up....Another friend lost one of his ducks to a snapper. That one floated up from the pond about 3 days after he shot it..It weighted 25 pounds and 2 foot long...If one knows how to cook a snapper, I hear they are good eating..(just not after they have been dead 3 days)
Great picture of the greater blue...I use to have one visit our farm pond...Its hard to imagine just how big they are until they take off flying....Huge bird, with those long legs hanging behind them as they fly...
