I just heard on Fox that today is a special day in history in that the last episode of "Gilligan's Island" was broadcast on this day in 1967. And it's been downhill for American culture ever since.

Lobster Barrel, not Lobster Tail.
Bring up Ginger and Mary Ann and I'm thinking tail, go figure!
I love the fact that they always had whatever they needed with them. Books, records, clothing, money. What they didn’t have usually washed up on the beach. Professor was an expert on everything.
I have purchased all three seasons of Gilligan on dvd and they are worth every penny spent. I watch them with my children.
Great family entertainment.
Do you remember Poor Richards ?
I giggled every time the theme song warbled, “...and the rest!”
Everything but a patch for the hole in the boat....
I had quite the crush on Dobie... and a little one on the Professor.
I remember the Captain's Table, The Luau, and of Course Barney's Beanery, which should still be there, but not Poor Richards
I watched the show and my only complaint was the same one I have with any other sitcom: the laugh track. Lose it.
I’m sorry but Bob Denver (Gilligan) peaked with his earlier role as Maynard G Krebs in “The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis” with the immortal rising end note of “Work!?” I was too young to appreciate it until its many reruns but that was a show that I still remember fondly (1959-63).
In order to enjoy Gilligan’s Island it was necessary to suspend all attempts at finding even the slightest hint of reality. Just about every thing on the show was not possible.
One of the most unbelievable was no little Professors or Gilligams etc. after a year or two on the island.
How about Titos Tacos
Although Denver worked almost exclusively on TV, he did have a few movie roles and probably the most notable of these was the excellent WHO’S MINDING THE MINT with one of the all star comedy casts since IT’S A MAD MAD MAD MAD WORLD.
Mrs. Howell was in a class by herself.
Nah, Henry’s on Moorepark and Tujunga?
‘The writing was pretty good over all and I will take Maryann over Ginger any day of the week.’
I agree, put Maryann over Ginger and bring them to me!
Ha! My family decided to watch the first season on DVD tonight while munching on cheesy bread. Had no idea about this date being related to Gilligan’s Island.
