Where would you move to if it became necessary? (Vanity)

Here is my question: If you felt it was necessary to leave our America to avoid the politics, where would you go? I had an interesting conservation with a friend today and he made the statement that he was considering researching for a new home. Since I have never given thought to the subject, I was completely stumped. I have no idea where I would go.

Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, or New Zealand. All of whose citizens enjoy environments of increasing economic freedom, unlike the regulation-mad United States.

I don’t run. I don’t quit. We go down fighting.

I would only leave if it were uninhabitable here. America is worth fighting for! But if I did have to leave, I would want to go to one of the other English speaking countries, who have been America's allies, Canada, Australia, Great Briton.

I’ve got ten acres, with woods, a garden, an orchard....If I could just get off the electric grid, We’d survive.

It all depends on attitude and acceptable style of life.
There is no one country that fits all, and many one time desirable countries, are no longer so desirable.
I remember when Central America, mostly Costa Rica, was quite popular, but I do not know about now.

When divorced and pushing retirement age, In 2005, I left the great state of Tennessee, one I consider still the best, and headed to Slovakia, a small but nice country. Now, however, it is in the EU and just now on the Euro. Cost of living was going up rapidly, and being a former Communist country, only very young people were learning English.

In August of last year, I took a holiday to the Philippines, and in January decided to move here.
While still a third world country, the cost of living is a fraction of most other countries, and life is great for
expats. I am friends with many from the US, Europe, and Australia.
If you happen to be a single male, of any age, you will not find a better country to move to.
It is best to avoid the Manila area, and head to one of the provinces.
I live on a beach in a small coastal town, south of Cebu city.

I have all that except the orchard. Trying to figure out how to get off the grid

I’d go to Iceland.

Just got back from there. Strange place. But nice, in a "beautiful desolation" kind of way.

And here in Mexico we face our challenges. Watch, for the NORTHERN states to pull away...the Yucatan Penisula has always wanted Independence, they want to keep their oil, the Indian Ethnic areas, Oaxaca/Guerrero/Chiapas would stand together and sell their hydroelectric power to the rest..and the CORN belt...Veracruz to Queretaro, Puebla, Guadalajara, most of the ole Aztec empire... and it would be the Balkanization of Mexico...the Northern States would be friendly to New Mexico, Arizona, California and Texas... What do you think?

I can’t move. I’ve invested too much time in the local animal shelters and I know many conservatives that it would be impossible for them to move. Who’s going to help and protect them? I’ll fight and die where I stand if necessary.

My husband spent a great deal of time in tent city at MacTan..during the VN era. He walked those beautiful beaches and collected the coolest sea shells. Course, he had to dry the critters out of them before putting them away..Beautiful place.

I had plans on moving to Central America once I retired (I am now retired )but 2008 wiped out over half of my life savings so it looks like I’m stuck here for a while......
