Pacman to play for Winnipeg in CFL

ESPN.com news services

Cornerback Pacman Jones, released by the Dallas Cowboys in February, has agreed to a one-year deal with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the CFL.

"It'll be a good experience for me to get back in game shape and compete and play football, which I like to do," Jones told SI.com, which first reported the story. "I'm real happy for the opportunity that's been given to me. Of course it's disappointing to me to not be playing in the NFL. But things happen and you have to adjust."

Jones, 25, chose the CFL over the inaugural United Football League, Jones' agents told SI.com. One of the factors was money -- contract details were not immediately known -- but Jones also will be able to play on both sides of the ball in the CFL, which still has 10 weeks remaining in its season. The four teams in the UFL will be playing a six-game schedule beginning in October.

"He's still young and has a lot of playing days ahead of him," Jones' attorney, Worrick Robinson, said. "If the CFL deal works out, it will be a good opportunity for him to get back on the field and show what he can do."

The Cowboys acquired Jones from the Tennessee Titans during the draft in April 2008, after he was suspended by the league for the entire 2007 season following multiple off-field incidents while with the Titans.

Remember Pacman, don’t “make it rain” Canadian money, they’re metal and somebody might get hurt.

Please tell me that Pacman is just a nickname and not what his parents put on his birth certificate. I’ve heard of him before, but never cared enough to research it.

I’m not a sports person in the least, but I’m glad that menace is out of Nashville. Pity the poor folks of Winnipeg.

Manitoba is a great place to visit. Just avoid the winters.

Y'know, I feel like an ignorant Yank...I did not realize that Winnipeg was in Manitoba. The only experience I have with Manitobans was excellent, however...we were in Houston at a national meeting for whatever, and I wound up partying with a bunch of Manitobans (of Ukranian extraction). What a funny and fun-loving people.

When asked to describe Manitoba, one of the guys said, "Manitoba: the only province where you can stand on your toes and see to the other end."

I’m originally from Saskatchewan by way of BC before I moved Stateside in 07’. It’s a party there 24/7 if u know where to find it. I know to this day (even last year) roads where if you step on one side, you’re in the U.S. side without even knowing about it.

Good place for this idiot, outside the United States.

I’m more concerned with the Bengals first round looming disaster, Andre Smith, being so overweight he broke his foot in the first day he’s practiced since signing during ‘non contact’ drills.

Well at least you’ve got Denver at home to start the season.

Sigh...yeah. Problem is, my Bengals are usually good for what ails an opposing team. We’ll see. Right now, if they are lucky, the Bengals go 9-7, and miss the playoffs as is the norm. Unlucky, 7-9. Injury to Palmer again...4-11 repeat of last season.

Its the O line thats killing the team these days.
