Sorry to hear you bad news......I thought I read Tamiflu was not effective in treating this strain?

Below is a statement from the head of the WHO, Margaret Chan, at a conference last month in Cancun, Mexico:
She stressed that the overwhelming majority of patients experienced mild symptoms and made a full recovery within a week, often in the absence of any form of medical treatment.
The exceptions, she said, were pregnant women and people with underlying health problems, who were at higher risk from complications from the virus and should be monitored if they fell ill.

My prayers for your daughter, but all my kids had it last week and it wasn’t as bad as some other flues (sp?) they have had in the past.
It made all the headlines in the papers (small town) and my pediatrician said it’s been here since last month and it’s not as big a deal as they are making it out to be. If you are elderly, infant or have a chronic lung problem, it’s dangerous, but so is a cold.

You all will be in my prayers. Keep us posted. President Bush stockpiled millions of doses of Tamiflu! I wonder why Obama is hording them? This doesn’t sound good to me. Who told you that the government ‘ordered’ doctors not to give patients Tamiflu? The government doesn’t have any right to do that!! Do they?

My teenager just got back from Chile. She had swine flu as well as the entire family. Chile prescribed tamiflu but no one in the family took it and it was over in just a few days.
In Chile they first hand see how much hype this flu has caused. The are coming our of winter and it ws not much worse than a normal flu season. They will not allow the vaccination in the country, they believe that the virus itself was man made.
To: teenyelliott
Tamiflu? Yuck. She would of been better off without it.

Prayers UP, teeny, I think I have a mild case myself.
Please take the time to read through this thread for some possible treatments -- but be advised:
I am not a Medical Doctor, and I don't know if the OTC remedies in this thread are suitable for children, nor in what dose.
(I'm old and grey, and have lots of life insurance to put my cubs through college. So I'm allowed to try things.)
