NEW YORK (AP) - Author Dominick Dunne, who told stories of shocking crimes among the rich and famous through his magazine articles and best-selling novels such as "The Two Mrs. Grenvilles," died Wednesday at his home in Manhattan. He was 83.
Actor-director Griffin Dunne said in a statement released by Vanity Fair that his father had been battling bladder cancer for some time. But the cancer did not prevent Dunne from working and socializing, his twin passions.

RIP, Mr. Dunne. I found him oddly charming.
Aww, damn. I really enjoyed his writing.

I guess Dominick is Dunn
what’s up with this thread?!,
(Twilight Zone music plays...!)
On a “Kennedy” news day, Dunne should be remembered for resurrecting the Martha Moxley story which eventually led to the conviction of Kennedy cousin Michael Skakel.
I will miss him a lot. I loved his books, articles and analysis. RIP

Saddened to read this. I was always impressed by the fact that he never published anything before the age of 50. All that interesting crime writing and trial coverage was basically his second act. Now that he is gone there will be no reason to look at Vanity Fair. RIP
I will never forget the look of shock/horror on his face when the OJ verdict was announced.
I knew nothing about him but after that I knew there must be some decency in him.
Bummer. I always enjoyed his writing. BUMMER.
Is this the same guy whose daughter was murdered (she was the teen girl on “Poltergeist” who shows up and sees crazy stuff happening and starts screaming)?
Unique man with a spot of seaking the truth... RIP DUNNE.
Interesting - one of Griffin Dunne’s best-known roles was in “After Hours”; didn’t know he was related to Dominic...
Is FR under DOS attack again? When I hit the refresh button I’m getting ALL sorts of weird stuff—’document does not exist on server’, page reloads back to original with no replies, blank pages...[cue twilight zone music while waving at WH flunkies in charge of DOS attack]
I liked him. Poor guy won’t get barely a mention now. Prayers for the family.

IIRC, his daughter was the gal from the first Poltergeist movie - the teenaged daughter. She was murdered by her psycho boyfriend not long after.
