The original 007, Sir Sean Connery, celebrates his 79th birthday today.
He was born Thomas Sean Connery in Edinburgh, Scotland on 25th August 1930.

No it lasted until
Dr No, which was 6th book. He has a Berreta 418.
I have made it through Casino Royale, Live and Let Die, and halfway through Moonraker and he still has it.
In Casino Royale he has .38 police special and Colt 45 in his Bentley.
