Surely this must be a trick of lighting, or a matter of blurred focus. Is it possible that the First Lady actually has six toes, as she appears to in this picture? And if she did have six toes, would she appear in public in sandals?

Perhaps readers skilled in photo analysis can enlighten us in the comments section.

Halle has to have a wicked bunion on her right little toe, I think that's what that is. The toe is more separated than usual from its neighbor, which would create a lot of pressure, discomfort, and callusing if she wore closed-toe footwear all the time, unless it were extra-wide (in which case it might be too loose for her heels and instep).

I agree. It's not a sixth toe, it's an enlargement at the base of her little toe. Probably the fifth metatarsal - a/k/a 'tailor's bunion'. So called because tailors sat cross-legged on a bench with the outside of the foot pressed against the floor, which tended to cause this condition.

If somebody has a tendency to flat feet and they also wear tight, high-heeled shoes, the head of the metatarsal will flare out. Sometimes the joint gets so far out it looks like a sixth toe.

It's a very painful condition, that's probably why she always looks so unhappy.

True. I don't care if she has 11 toes, junk in the trunk, etc., except when the MSM tries to tell us she is the ultimate in fashion/beauty when we can see by our lying eyes that it is not so.

Well, it’s fairly easy to fix when it starts, with orthotics. But if the person has worn tight high heels for years and the bone is fixed in the new position it requires surgery. The surgery is messy and not always successful, AND requires that you keep all weight off the foot and wear a bulky cast for quite a long time.
