I'm sittin here with not much to do and figured this could be an interesting thread for those on FR that ride bikes and could share some info on bikes, maintenance, how to pack for that long road trip, horror stories (near misses). Maybe find some local FRiends to go ride with etc. etc.

The fact that a guy like me can own a bike like that is precisely what’s wrong with capitalism in America. Though the bike is agile & fast, I’m old & slow. The performance is wasted on a guy like me. I bump up against my own limitations all the time. Rarely do I find the limits of the bike . . .
Redline in 5th gear equates to 136mph. Never been there.

No, it was taken in Dallas on 5/12/09 right before the internment run for Spec. Ryan King, KIA 5/2/09 in Afghanistan, at the National Cemetery in Canton..

Depends.
Expensive.
But you gotta do it because ALL factory paintjobs look like crap. They all have texture.
I can’t do a shitty paintjob. I just can’t. It always has to be perfect. Even if someone wants something quick, I can’t. Something quick always turns into perfect paint because I can’t stop myself. It always has to be perfect and that takes alot of time.
I painted the above Virago XV1100 and converted the rear fender for $450.... and that was my brothers bike.
