If it wasn’t satire, I’d have said, “Good for you! ANY legal job to put food in your children’s mouths is good, honest work.” I’ve often told my daughters when they wrinkle their noses at my “stinkiness” after building a deck, etc., that it’s honest sweat.

The problem was not believing the Proverb "The debtor is the slave of the Lender". Credit was way over extended on an financially illiterate nation.
The problem is still at hand since our leadership still is swiping the credit card for money it does not have.
The solution is going back to basics - not spending for what you can't afford and getting back onto a financially secure position; both personally and nationally.
This may take a number of years (personally), looks like it might be a decade(s) nationally.
The democrats will not be happy until the United States is reduced to a poor, backward country, with all the accumulated “wealth” (savings) of normal people redistributed to the non-working democrat voters.
Well that guy ‘Tom’ is lucky because even in satirical land, I haven’t seen any shovel ready projects.
