Preparing for civil unrest
Backwoods Home Magazine ^ | current issue | Claire Wolfe

The most remarkable thing about civil unrest is that there hasn't been more of it.

Politicians are making a hash of this country—and much of the rest of the civilized world. We know it. They know it. They know we know it. But we don't feel we can do anything much to stop them.

That right there is the pre-condition for civil unrest—when people are frustrated and politicians are nervous.

Worse, that was how things stood before last fall's crash. Before pols on both left and right launched the biggest mass transfer of wealth in history—transferring our wealth (what we had left of it!) to their friends on Wall Street and in the banking industry. In other words, that's how things were before things got bad!

Now everybody's talking about the ongoing catastrophe (even if we are in a momentarily sunny mood). But almost nobody is talking about the logical—maybe even inevitable—consequences of cynical or desperate politicians abusing an already fed-up populace: civil unrest.

I mean people taking to the streets. Or mass resistance. Or crackdowns because the government fears we might do something to upset its apple cart. It's going to happen. Somewhere. At some time. It's going to.

One of the few VIPs to mention the matter openly was Zbigniew Brzezinski, former National Security Advisor and the ultimate insider's insider. He commented on the millions of unemployed or soon-to-be-unemployed and the "...public awareness of this extraordinary wealth that was transferred to a few individuals at levels without historical precedent in America." He told "Morning Joe" Scarborough, "Hell, there could be even riots." I'd say that's an understatement.

Although few in power are talking about it, rumors abound that governments at many levels are planning for civil unrest.

The environment and the dynamics are changing rapidly. People are incensed to near violence at the emerging details of ObamaCare and I haven't seen a politician in public for months now who didn't show up with either private security, or a police presence. This is in itself very telling. Far too many politicians live in houses and neighborhoods that are NOT like the Green Zone and this makes them VULNERABLE. If the dynamics keep shifting the way they do, watch for somebody to snipe a politician (local, state, or federal) from their front porch leaving for the office one morning, or while sitting poolside in the back yard. Do NOT try to read into what I'm saying, because I don't KNOW anything!...and I'm saying that for everybody else who doesn't know me better! :-) I won't condone such action. As always, I'm only observing, and absorbing what others tell me. But if one follows the current situation from the standpoint of warfare and the progression of conflict escalation, assassination IS a potential next step in the progression. Once it happens, all bloody hell will probably break loose... or perhaps it won't. It's hard to say right now. But eventually, if the situation doesn't alter course in a different direction, aggression will be spent on those identified as the perpetrators (government representatives at some level), and we'll all read about it in the news...at least that version which the MSM wants us to read. :-)

Just between you and me, I'm really pissed off about the whole situation. Too many Americans had to have fast cash with credit and big screen T.V.s. Now we're going down the shitter as a nation and everybody is on the "preparedness bandwagon" or bemoaning the fact that they didn't get an AR-15 and a "suitable" store of ammo before it all started. But they still live in the "burbs" and are still up to their ears in debt. I guess it makes them feel good to have a little food and water stacked against one wall in the garage or basement. I certainly won't ruin the moment for them.

...short sighted, pathetic bunch of slaves! If this situation does blossom into something like what we got a close look at in Bosnia Herzegovina, it's gonna be ugly and difficult for those with the will and the resources to resist. I'm guessing there are under 10% like this which I know is 30 million... but they're spread out all over God's creation....disorganized, unable to coordinate, unable to communicate securely, and basically isolated in very small, ineffective groups. Somebody is sure to tell me I'm wrong, but I know some of these (from a distance) and if you peel back the layers of their "onion", they've got a lot of nothing underneath....nothing that a decent SRT or USMC Recon team can't take away. They can't prevent anything except for "domestic" type junk. Plus, if they talk to me, then they'll talk to anybody, including the ATF, FBI, and any other alphabet agency who asks. I've TOLD a few of them who I work for at my day job. I've had some interesting reactions! :-) They could be liars, and I suspect a good number of them are. Too many of them have ZERO prior military experience and don't understand Constitutional principle, much less the basis or operational foundations of a chain of command. I warned one of them that a modern attack helo could ID him as friend or foe from two miles and them put rounds on him before he ever knew the gun had been fired. He had just finished bragging about how to take down helos with a .50 cal precision rifle... a Barrett I think. I asked him if he knew what a FLIR pod was, and he didn't. I slapped him on the back on my way out and said, "GOOD LUCK with shooting down military helos!...especially in the dark!" ....friggin moron.

Perhaps the liars and big-mouths will keep the authorities tied up while the quiet ones can get to work on solving some problems....eh? :-)

Whatever happens though, it might be real and it might even be a little bit of fun. But I don't think it's going to be real fun. :-)

Stay safe buddy.

I wish it could be done only by the ballot box...who knows. But we are for sure under a worse tyranny than king George, no doubt about it!

A Canadian is going to tell someone that they can pack their family into an enclosed stranger infested pathogen loaded tinsheet tomb and quick drive off to outrun an epidemic of which they are already in the middle?

You think "most" will fall for that?

Could you swap out the virus for flying african vampire wizards or something else that makes it more plausible?

It's going to happen. Somewhere. At some time. It's going to.

I contend the fuse is already lit and burning and when certain things start to happen the dam will burst. And certain folks at many different levels had better be running and hiding when that dam breaks, IMO.

Their only hope is to enlist 100% of the support of federal law enforcement and crack down hard. But that won’t happen and won’t work. They’re right, we do have all the guns.

Yep, that non-green zone security is going to begin to be factored in, as our polidiots begin to feel the heat. Will they attempt to crack down, or modify their positions? Time will tell.

They'll react in one way or another. Probably in true leftist form though. They'll do something that gives "feel good" but doesn't change a whole lot in reality. Time will tell indeed!

Wealth transfered to Wall Street ? Give me a break, I know plenty of people that work on Wall Street that have lost fortunes. Some of the largest shareholders of Wall St. firms are the employees, alot of their pay is in stock and that went into the toilet.

It depends on what state. And keep in mind that even the “good” states are subject to a lot of federal mandates that force/coerce them into doing things they wouldn’t be doing otherwise.

Well-l-l, cosidering that “our” army has signed an agreement with the Canadian army to permit either to “Help” the other out when their own forces are insufficient to do the job and considering that the Canadian army is quite well armed and has no problem with ordering us yanks around (kinda like they order the Afghans around), and further considering that it’ll all happen when your family is looking to you for safety... Yeah, I think most people will go for it, just like the Jews did in Germany.

At this point, given my low opinion of most politicians, I think, that politicians in the so-called “good” states are using this as an excuse for their own bad behavior.

I’m sure that’s true of some, but they don’t get re-elected.
