Patrick Swayze was everything most of us aspire to be. The best thing about him was that he was humble. It's good to see that humility (like honor) has not been forgotten.

He was awesome. But underrated by Hollywood “standards.”

Sigh. Went to look at Drudge and saw the headline
Federer uses profanity in dispute at Open final... under a photo with some guy holding a tennis racket.
Gee, tennis and profanity. What a classy sport.
Try that in a bagpipe competition and You Are Out On Your Ear Right Now MacDougal, no ifs ands or buts.

There are still some things that adhere to the moral attitude of our parents.
I never liked tennis, anyway...

He was awesome. But underrated by Hollywood standards. I guess I'll have to go rent a video to watch something he played in.
But... standards? Hollywood has those?
I will be frank: percentage-wise I've enjoyed a LOT more movies from Bollywood than Hollywood, especially the comedies. Even if I have to read subtitles (which I prefer if only because I've endured some pretty awful dubbing).

There are still some things that adhere to the moral attitude of our parents. I'm not going to go that far with the bagpipe world.
There is, for example, the local case a couple of decades back, of the competitor who got up on the judging platform, some 2 meters above the audience, struck up and started marching back and forth in front of the judge while playing the March of his MSR (March, Strathspey & Reel) competition set. All this is part of the routine.
But the story goes that he couldn't handle the stress of competition very well (it CAN be pretty stressful) and had taken some 'reinforcement' beforehand. Unfortunately that affected his judgment as regards the edge of the platform and he wound up marching right off it... to an ignominious and suddenly abbreviated ending to his MSR set.
Fortunately neither piper nor pipes were hurt, only a wee bit o' pride on the part of the former.

Ok. "Red Dawn" I've seen. Nothing else. Interesting photos -- shorten his face vertically a bit (a couple of photos) he looks like a hunk. Beyond that cannot comment.
Good night.

Patrick Swayze did a crime thriller, “Next of Kin,” in which he played one of several brothers from Appalachia relocated to (iirc) Detroit. His character was a police officer, but his brothers were ne’er-do-wells. It was a clever and well-done movie, in the genre, with interesting excursions to Kentucky.
He was too light-built and quirky to be a “hunk,” imo, but very graceful, and likeable in all the roles in which I’ve seen him. And, from reports, a good man, loyal to his wife, honest with his friends and fans.

Morning!
Most recently, Patrick Swayze did a TV series, but I guess he got too ill to continue.

Good morning! School is going better today, not as much yelling ;-). We need to get new math flash cards for the little boys.

It’s always tough to settle down after the summer. I think the first week of school should be banned; we should just start with the second week....

This is our third week, but we had the vacation between weeks two and three.
The order for your surprise is in the outgoing mail. It will come by UPS ... someday. The catalog didn’t say. If it’s delivered reasonably promptly and you love it, we can use the vendor for some Christmas gifts later.

You’ll get tired before the delivery comes ;-).
I have to feed Frank again. He had a nap for a while, so that’s one thing better than yesterday. Pat stuck plastic strapping tape all over his face - its own reward ...

Somewhere, I have a photo of two little boys, two years old or younger, with strapping tape on their mouths. One has eyes that smile like neon, and one has tears that could melt the tape.
I still laugh when I think of it! (The smiler was mine!)

Yah. My kid is still wierd. He’s so lovestruck he had to get a blessing to deal with the pain of separation.
(I told him I was old enough to have a kid who was 45!)
