There are still some things that adhere to the moral attitude of our parents.

I'm not going to go that far with the bagpipe world.

There is, for example, the local case a couple of decades back, of the competitor who got up on the judging platform, some 2 meters above the audience, struck up and started marching back and forth in front of the judge while playing the March of his MSR (March, Strathspey & Reel) competition set. All this is part of the routine.

But the story goes that he couldn't handle the stress of competition very well (it CAN be pretty stressful) and had taken some 'reinforcement' beforehand. Unfortunately that affected his judgment as regards the edge of the platform and he wound up marching right off it... to an ignominious and suddenly abbreviated ending to his MSR set.

Fortunately neither piper nor pipes were hurt, only a wee bit o' pride on the part of the former.
